  • TalonsOfFire Yeah but there's the other side of it which seems to be all the emo, pop punk, and generic hard rock influences too. They can get pretty overdone with some bands, especially leading to All That Remains and B4MV turning full mainstream hard rock/"metalcore"

  • TalonsOfFire Not just him, I've been hearing that stuff for years. Bands like DT, IF, and others from that scene in the 90s being responsible for modern metalcore bands. Seems similar to peolpe who say that all the djent bands just combine breakdowns with Meshuggah's very original and technical approach to extreme/prog metal, except the Meshuggah argument is a lot more valid imo

  • TalonsOfFire True, and I can see why Slaughter of the Soul is compared to it too though some call it the birth of metalcore, which I don't really get
