The first movement of this is emotional and heart wrenching. The second, a shock- quite happy and uplifting.
The third- $%^#@()_ amazing. Absolutely mind blowing. The most mindblowing journey, over those legendary arpeggios and face-meltingly quick scales.
It's absolutely incredible. Beethoven was a total genious.
Literally, is there anything more iconic than Moonlight Sonata? Listening to this on Lake Lucurne (from where Moonlight Sonata's name owes its existence) is just surreal. I was only ten when it happened and I still remember thinking how perfect the title was.
Truly fantastic piano work from the man who defined the term "classical music" for many people. The only low point of this work of art is the Allegretto of the "Moonlight" sonata, but every other second in these two piano sonatas more than makes up for it. Absolutely beautiful in every way. 5.0/5
