| 5.0 classic | Ian | July 19th 06 | I've been known to go on forever about how much I love Coheed & Cambria, especially here on Sputnikmusic. However, I feel that my fanboy rants are warranted. Just short of the Beatles, Coheed & Cambria is the best band ever to exist. "Good Apollo..." does more than to prove that. The guitar work here is the best the band has ever done. The structures of songs are amazing and Claudio's voice, while nasal, is beautiful. "Good Apollo..." isn't the best from Coheed & Cambria (that honor goes to "SSTB"), but it is still jaw dropping amazing.

| 3.0 good | Damrod EMERITUS | July 13th 06 | The latest episode of the Coheed and Cambria story. BUt after all the anticipation the band stirred with interviews and with the lead single "Welcome Home", I could not help but feel disappointed with this album. Somehow it did not feel as great as it should. There are nice songs, like "Ten Speed", but overall... not as captivating as their previous works.

| 4.5 superb | John Kisses Boys Hanson STAFF | June 25th 06 | Usually, I save 5's for albums that either have huge influential purposes, or in which every song is just so brilliant that it would be unjust to give anything lower. For some reason, Good Apollo has 9 outstanding songs and 5 pretty good ones, yet I can't help but be in love with it. Don't let anyone else deter you; Coheed are staking themselves as the commercial leaders of this new movement of radio prog, and this album has cemented the fact that they're also largely unique and competent as musicians (particularly Sanchez and Stever).

| 2.5 average | Rodrigo | February 27th 09 | No album before has been ruined to me by the lyrics as this one. I had heard of Claudio Sanchez lack of vocal talent, but his voice is just so incredibly annoying that he has singlehandedly screwed what would have been a great album. The rest (guitar, etc) is actually really good, but they should have released an instrumental version. The one song where Claudio's voice is bearable is "Welcome Home", the rest just make me want to put a bullet in my head.

| 0.0 | Golgoroth | September 10th 08 | This has really had to grow on me. At the time I got it, I already had IKSSE:3 and NWFT, and Coheed were quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. However, upon getting this, I was disappointed even though Welcome Home and The Suffering were the songs that made me like their sound in the first place. I rated this a 3.5 and didn't listen to it much after going through it once. A while later I listened to it 2 more times through to see if I'd change my mind, and I loved it. I boosted my rating to a 4.5. 2 months later, my rating is now a 5. This is one of my favorite albums ever. The vocal melodies are some of the best I've heard, the guitar tone and leads are amazing, and the overall sound is just unique and great. Still trying to decide if I like this or SSTB better...

| 0.0 | BattleOfSerenity | January 16th 08 | Aj is an idiot.
This album was one of the best albums of 2005.
Massively underrated by fanboys of course, because Claudio actually matured as a singer and songwriter, and made the subject matter more interesting.
The fact is, this album has one of the best concepts ever.
A masterpiece and classic worthy.

| 4.5 superb | Marimbaboy4 | December 29th 10 | I wasn't sure if it was possible to have an accessible, practically radio-friendly prog album until I listened to this. This album is pretentious as all hell, but is still accessible. One of the strongest points of it is the guitar work, which keep it interesting all the way through. Claudios's vocals are also fantastic, even if they seem girly at first. All in all a fantastic piece of work by C&C.

| 4.0 excellent | mrfudgeyhead | April 8th 07 | This is an interesting piece of music, but by interesting i mean great. The guitar riffs are awesome, vocals sharp and scute, drums are ok, and the bass is listenable. Songs like welcome home, ten speeed, and the suffering dominate this cd, and the other are very smooth and easy to hear. This is a great cd and would have been a classic if it werent for the fact every 3 good songs have 2 songs of filler between them.

| 3.0 good | Brighter Than the Noonday | November 14th 12 | There seems to be a sense of confusion in Coheed and Cambria's sound that wants to push to be as diverse as possible, but nothing happens. This grandiose album puts on a mask for the majority of its running time and attempts to convince the listener it was born in the 1970s. They are not strong enough to be completely progressive in every song though it seems like that is their intention. The result is an inconsistent collection of songs that hits hard when it makes something of itself but doesn't always prove to be a modern masterpiece.

| 3.5 great | Kyle Miller | October 24th 12 | While it has a few stand out tracks sucks as the willing well series the majority of the album goes about sounding like it doesn't know what it wans to be. Some of the tracks are just downright boring such as once upon your dead body, there's not even much of a hook. All In all it's a okay album from a seller band that just didn't know where to go

| 4.0 excellent | Travis Montgomery | October 17th 12 | This in my mind was Coheed's last hurrah before their 7 year lul, as well as the album that brought the band to my attention. I remember hearing Welcome Home for the first time back when rock band came out, I though it was a fantastic song but never gave it much thought. How I wish I could've discovered these guys so much sooner... 4.1/5

| 5.0 classic | JoshTh | August 28th 12 | This album is great. It was the first Coheed CD I ever purchased when I was 12 after my friend showed me The Suffering and Coheed has been my favourite band since. As far as guitar work goes, in my opinion you can't do any better. The leads and hooks are amazing, although it is not as technically proficient as some of the prog metal giants. Although a great album, it does not surpass IKSSE:3 of SSTB.

| 5.0 classic | kirkhammett511 | March 30th 12 | This album has to be in my opinion the most diverse collection of tracks that coheed has ever done. Even with that being the case, the one feeling tying all of these tracks together is anger. Basically being written after Claudio Sanchez's girlfriend severed ties, this is the ultimate break up album. Granted everything Co&Ca rights is pure gold, this album will definitely hold a place in my heart as classic coheed and cambria.

| 0.0 | Camstr | March 21st 12 | This is Coheed and Cambria's magnum opus in my opinion. Everything I love about the band is on display in full force. The entire album oozes creativity and there isn't a single song I don't absolutely love.

| 3.5 great | Staker | February 12th 11 | Coheed are a band who are "almost but not quite" for me. Yes, they are prog, with great guitarists and vocals, but half the time they're playing these pop inspired songs where which aren't *bad*, they're just a bit less engaging. So, here, The Suffering, Crossing The Frame, Lying Lies and others hold it back, but Welcome Home, Ten Speed, and The Writing Writer bring it up. The length and amount of filler pop degrades it but it's still a great album.

| 5.0 classic | Derek Kowalczyk | October 11th 10 | I would love to write a review on this album, but I think that would be unfair. The reason I say that is because I am way too much of a fan boy. Another reason why I can't do it is that there is no possible way for me to put in words how amazing this album is. My musical identity before used to be all about classic rock, and that new rock fucking sucks. My friend told me to listen to Welcome Home and so I decided that I would humor him. After listening to Welcome Home, my world was turned upside down. New rock that was actually good? I couldn't believe it. I explored further into the music of Coheed and Cambria. With Good Apollo One it took me a few listens to really enjoy it. 2 years later, I had every Coheed album that had been released. After listening to all the Coheed albums I still found that Good Apollo 1 is easily their best work to date. I assume that on whatever album of Coheed you start on, will be your favorite Coheed album. Good Apollo 1 isn't an album you can describe how great it is because for me it is all about the feeling it gives when listened to. This is the album that opened my eyes to a whole new world. And this isn't just the best album by Coheed and Cambria, but one of the best rock albums of all time.

| 3.0 good | Kenneth E. Rathburn | September 24th 10 | From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness starts off well but, after "Welcome Home," it falls into a rut that never brings the same quality back. Part of this does have to do with the fact that Claudio Sanchez doesn't exactly have an approachable vocal style, even though it isn't out-of-line for a progressive act. But the biggest issue here is that the music simply isn't interesting despite its style, and proves to, in essence, be a contradiction: stale progressive music. Almost everything here feels empty outside of Sanchez's singing and leaves the music feeling empty and lifeless.

| 4.5 superb | EverythingEvil2113 | January 12th 10 | This is right on the verge of being a 5. If not for a couple weaker songs it surely would be. Welcome Home is a perfect song, Ten Speed is a great hard rocker, The Suffering is their best radio friendly song, and The Willing Well's are some of the greatest pieces of music I've ever heard. It would take forever to describe the sound but just know that it's proggy/heavy and if not for SSTB this would be my favorite Coheed album.

| 2.5 average | OathOfTheHoratii | June 16th 08 | Im usually a fan of this type of music, but I have never been able to get into Coheed. It doesn't help that every album is a concept album about THE SAME THING, something that begins to wear thin by this cd. They're talented musicians, no doubt, but progressive post hardcore is done far better elsewhere.

| 5.0 classic | pepperbright | December 17th 07 | I thouroughly enjoyed this album, not purely because it featured Coheed's expected unique instrumental ballads and Claudio's beautiful glide through the air voice but because of it's difference.
The feeling of listening to this is something incomparable to 'any other old cd' it is something that you'd compare with reading a story. Because you feel anticipation, fear and thirst for a conclusion.
Not to say the album was lacking, but I wish they'd expanded the length of a few of the tracks; though the feeling of it leading was effective in keeping any listener so I can understand it.
This album is chilling and raw in the way you feel it's amidst a confrontation of reality in some parts.
The long super smooth Welcome Home intro hooks you to the end.
This is slower than some other Album's but it has fast heavy moments too, I would almost use the word 'Solemn'.

| 4.5 superb | ktstein | September 19th 07 | I've been a fan of Coheed for a few years now, and got this album when it came out in 2005, but I got a few other cd's at the time and never really gave it the chance it deserved. I listened to Welcome Home, and Willing Well 4, but just skimmed over the rest of the songs and didn't give them much attention. BIG MISTAKE! Now, the 4 Willing Well songs are some of my favorite songs off of any cd. "Run little Maggots!" "The curves of your body!!" "Tonight, I'm Burning Star IV!" The constantly changing styles, moods, and tempos of these 4 songs are definately the highlight of the cd for me.

| 4.5 superb | Riziger | September 16th 06 | this was my first Coheed album and I've loved every second of it since. this album really got me in love with coheed and it sounds dark compared to the excellent IKSOSE3. the guitar work on the album is nothing short of superb. Coheed has rapidly become my favourite band and this album had a lot to do with it. all of the Willing Wells are great. Welcome Home I feel is their best song. Ten Speed is a good song to rock out to. Other good songs are The Suffering, Wake Up, Apollo 1. It's really a classic.

| 5.0 classic | canadianterrorist666 | September 16th 06 | Prog Rock takes a while to sink in with me. After about 6 months of on and off listnening, i had the chance to see them live with A7X, and I took that chance. I went to see A7X, but I came home with a newfound appreciation for Coheed, and immediatly fell in utter love with this album. There are no bad songs, and they lyrics are mesmerizing and amazing. An epic album, 5/5

| 0.0 | Neoteric | September 16th 06 | I'm usually pretty hard on new albums, mostly because all of them suck but this is a pretty rare case. Some of the songs are perfection while some are just great songs basically. I don't think this is a 5 just yet but give it a few years to see if it can stand on it's own. I dislike Claudio's voice, it's a bit whiny and high but I never judge the music simply on the vocals so this is still a good album.

| 4.5 superb | deadskinmask216 | September 13th 06 | Prog metal at it's finest. Each member has a ton of talent, and the songwriting is fantastic. Claudio Sanchez has a unique voice that might turn off some listeners, but I enjoy it very much. The epicness of the album is out of this world, and it comes off very strong and hits you right in the gut. Coheed and Cambria pulled it off and in a very big way. Great album.
