thestate is the biggest idiot this side of sputnik, which is quite an accomplishment considering the broad spectrum of idiocy taking place daily. You're the man and I hope you'll never stop being the man. To make this legit, Hot N Cold is a shaking, grooving, bust out the chops sing-a-long that will have all the metalheads singing along together, whether your a kvlt viking from Norway or a nonsensical, short attention spanned metal dictator from South Florida.

this album is awesome. modern fanny batter auto-tuned pop for "soccer" moms to listen to while driving their kids to school. just awesome music to watch the world melt to. if i was drafted, sent to a war, then get blown to bits by al-qaeda, this is what i'll want to listen to in my last minute, in the agony of dying. just an awesome album. plus she was outstanding in "all the real girls".

You can get angry at this record all you like. And rightly so- the Avril tomboy antics of "One of the Boys", the whiny and immature "Ur So Gay" and the lame man-hating "Mannequin" are all bland, strained in its attempts to be unique and generally irritating. At times, I'd even give this record less than one star. But, then, it happens: the "Rock and Roll Part 2" drums kick in, the swinging guitars and stomping bass follows..."I Kissed A Girl" is the synth-pop hit of the year, regardless of what interpretation one makes of the song's lyrics. With singles like this, along with her drop-dead-gorgeous looks and musical ability, One of the Boys certainly shows plenty of potential. Here's hoping...

Katy Perry can be most favorably compared to the Hello Kitty Strat I see lying around my local music shop. It's kind of cute, harmless, and ultimately exists for one sole purpose: the exploitation of a demographic in order to make a quick buck off of a novelty product that no person in their right mind and over the age of twelve should even consider owning. And the worst part is that somebody is actually profiting from such a stupid idea.

This album represents almost everything that is wrong with modern music. Perry tries so hard to be edgy, hip, culturally relevant, or at the very least interesting at all - and in doing so fails spectacularly at every turn. What gets heaped on the public in the end is an overproduced mess of idiocy in CD form, which is a damn shame, since it's obvious that she is capable of not sucking. Katy Perry is not innately terrible. It's just that she doesn't try to not suck.

Very catchy, but the lyrics are poor and the ballads bland and unimpressive. Katy Perry clearly wants to be an "edgy" and "offensive" pop artist in the vein of Avril Lavigne, despite the fact that the only people who find Avril Lavigne "offensive" are 12-year olds and their far-right evangelical parents. The same goes for Katy Perry, so, I guess she's gotten what she wanted. That doesn't make this album any more impressive, though.

I figured I would give her a serious chance after the 2015 Superbowl performance, but all I could hear was an inexperienced singer with no control, and just interjections of risqué lyrics among a setlist of weak pop songs. Waking Up in Vegas is my new jam however.
