their technality and sheer brutality is amazing, unfortnately about half the album is god damn boring, although the first 2 songs kick ass, and PLEASE FGS DONT DO LONG SONGS BECAUSE THEY ARE BORING ME TO DEATH.
Annihilation of the Wicked...a fitting title for such an amazingly technical and heavy album. From start to finish the album makes you feel like you are being bluguned in the head while building the pyramids of Eygpt. The blast beats are plentiful, and the thrash influenced riffs are present on every song. The eygptian influence (as though I needed to say this) is around and present more than ever. Brutal, technical death metal the way it should be...that's what AotW is.
Bring back the goddamn glory days. If this is the future of death metal, then draw the shades, close your eyes, turn up the fucking Mortician, and try to not become suicidal from the nostalgia. A flurry steroided blastbeats and furious chording makes for an energetic listen, but the bloated songwriting quickly overrides any quality the album could've possessed. The egyptian melodies are a novelty that's already worn to the bone, and they add about to the music as the aggregate length of the member's of Nile's penises. That's to say that they add very little. It's all right, I suppose, but nowhere near worthy of a 4.2 average rating.
I rated this a five pretty well because of it's techinical ability. Have you heard the drums, especially on 'Cast Down The Heretic', absolutely insane.
