2.5 average | Brettskiee | April 28th 17 | The definition of average, keep it up Northlane.

3.5 great | Thandall | March 24th 17 | Northlane will always be confronted with high expectations, given their groundbreaking early
releases and polarizing stylistic changes resulting from the adoption of their second lead
vocalist. Unfortunately, such changes have come at the expense of technical songwriting,
instrumental focus, and straight-up heaviness. All this leaves the musical merits to rest heavily
on vocalist Marcus Bridge. Nonetheless, Mesmer is refined, groovy, airy progressive metalcore;
their lightest and most accessible release thus far. Fave tracks: Colourwave, Render

3.5 great | Toondude | March 24th 17 | It is what it is, atmospheric prog metalcore/djent with a few great moments and a few bad ones.

2.5 average | ALONEAFLAME | April 4th 21 | This album kinda lacks the dynamic range of Node. The mix is just one big wall of sound and the songwriting is basically just a whole lot of chugging. The main word I'd use to describe this album is "lethargic".

3.0 good | AlphaGoon | October 8th 18 | The bad: Monotonous screamed vocals and a good chunk of the riffs sound interchangeable from song to song, and just not very interesting. The good: Solid clean vocals and hooks, the occasional flashes of really impressive guitar work, and consistent atmospheric aesthetic that I just wish they'd intertwine with some more impressive instrumental work.

3.5 great | Jared Wegenast | October 8th 18 | Dropped it from my initial rating(s) of 4-4.5 down to 3. Some fun tracks, but definitely leaves a lot to be desired and shows very little growth in relation to their previous releases.

3.0 good | OldCrime | April 11th 17 | Streamlined progressive metalcore without any edges. Probably what they were going for with Node - better executed here.

3.5 great | Xenorazr | April 2nd 17 | Crisply produced metalcore that's light on the metal, but just potent enough, thanks in no small part to the atmospheric touches. These same touches also tease at a stronger musical exploration that doesn't quite come to fruition. On one hand, it keeps the focus on the music, but there's also a sense that something greater could be achieved with the right drive and direction.

3.5 great | hobblepot | March 31st 17 | Their tribute to Tom from Architects is beautiful, legit made me tear up. Might write a review of this once i've listened through it a bunch more, but so far it's looking like a 4.5

4.0 excellent | jandajuice | March 27th 17 | i feel like this is the best album with Marcus. His cleans are so sick and he has gotten better with his screams. I love the fact he is also a down to earth guy. I really enjoyed this album though because lyrically it was actually well put. Granted the instruments weren't as good but still good enough.

3.5 great | Joran | March 24th 17 | Northlane brings a different feel to the table with more ambient sounds and some electronic influences, while keeping their signature sound. Doing this each song feels different, and refreshing. But not enough songs give that "wow" feel. Still a solid release.

4.0 excellent | cloakanddagger | March 24th 17 | The mixing is much better on this album. Musically it all flows very nicely and after a few listens it's starting to grow on me a fair bit.

2.0 poor | ian b. | March 23rd 17 | what Node should have been. not as good as singularity but definitely improved and more thought out. well done lads.

4.5 superb | Vildhjarta96 | March 23rd 17 | Without a doubt the best thing they dropped since singularity, they finally found the perfect instrumentation to compliment the vocals. Loving it so far after my first listen through, will change score when I let the new album sink in long enough but so far it's definitely an improvement to node.

4.0 excellent | cman23kid | March 23rd 17 | Shoutout to some of the best marketing done for an album. What I expected from northlane: atmospheric metalcore with prog infliences. Nicely done.
