The fourth of five installments of Coheed and Cambria's enormous concept series has finally arrived with what seems more fitting for a book club than something included in a musical discussion. The reason is simple; Coheed and Cambria's once brilliant song writing, musically, has completely lost steam and regained a majority of the attention towards the storyline. "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV - Volume 2: No World For Tomorrow" features songs that are reminiscent of eighties progressive metal, more or less, and ripped solos reminiscent of something from Eddie Van Halen's playbook. They abandon the simplistic elegance they once had with songs, and overwork them into a wrought collection of songs.
In addition, Coheed and Cambria try to recreate the progressive greatness that was 'The Willing Well I, II, III, IV,' four epic songs, with semi-epic songs in 'The End Chapter I, II, III, IV, V.' Beyond that, the inconsistencies are scattered between catchy and complex songs like 'No World For Tomorrow' and 'The End Chapter- III- The End Complete,' but is overshadowed by bland tracks that are flat-out bad like 'Feathers' and 'Mother Superior.' Hopefully, the final installment with this saga will reconnect with what once made Coheed and Cambria unique and not something recycled.

Finally, a band that is bringing rock music back. For these guys, it is all about the music. I have long awaited this album to arrive, and it has fulfilled every expectation. The progression of Coheed from SSTB to No World For Tomorrow is amazing. Here, we have the uniquely catchy vocal stylings and intricate sci-fi storyline that we know and love, with the musicianship and composition stepped up to a whole new level.

Despite the record's superior consistency, the shift in musical direction towards a more generic rock sound has left many of the songs formulaic in structure and lacking the former three's charm; however, the album remains a satisfactory conclusion to The Amory Wars.

While I stand firm in my belief that this is easily Coheed's weakest album, I will admit that with giving this another listen, it has grown on me. In reality though, the only people who should own this album are Claudio himself and die-hard fans who are truthfully only looking for a soundtrack to the comic book. 3.1/5

This release struck me as the poor man's "Good Apollo #1" for the longest time. But then one day this album just clicked for me and now I fully appreciate it for the awesome album (and multi-album concept ender) that it is. While still not as good as part one for me, it remains a Coheed and Cambria classic.

More of the same from a very worthy band... No World for Tomorrow sounds more like a video-game inspired comic book fantasy in a time when video games are becoming more and more plausible and agreeable. Video games on the radio.

This album is very reticent of Pink Floyd. Many of the songs have lengthy, progressive solos that sound ethereal and contain a lot of depth. It was an impressive direction for the band in my opinion.

I'm not really sure why some people don't like this. It contains some of Coheed's best tracks: No World For Tomorrow, The Running Free, Gravemakers & Gunslingers. The End Complete series rivals The Willing Well, and the pop sensibilities found on tracks like Feathers and Mother Superior are the best executed of the band's career.

Probably my least favorite Coheed album but it's still pretty damn good. "No World for Tomorrow" and "The End Complete 3" are beyond epic and are some of their best songs in their entire catolag. The weakness lies in that this album seems like a watered down version of GA1. The End Completes are no where near as good as the Willing Wells and Justice in Murder is an obvious filler track. But overall this is still a great listen. You still have Claudio wailing away, you got some tasty riffs, great guitar playing (leads, riffs, and solos wise) and it still retains a proggy feel from their last album. I'm hoping the prequal album will be way better than this but if Coheed decideds to put out albums of this magnitude for the rest of their career you won't be hearing me complain.

This album is such a far stray from their first efforts as Coheed and Cambria, and the late Shabutie material. It's rather slowed down, and though better than Good Apollo 1, this album can't match up to The Second Stage Turbine Blade or In Keeping Secrets. Those two cds are just more pleasurable to listen to. The style is more refined there, and not dumbed down like on Good Apollo 1 and 2. These ablums were made to market to a wider base, and me, a hardcore fan since the Shabutie days, won't have it anymore. Hopefully the prequel cd will help Coheed avenge themselves.

New directions are always good in theory, but this direction just doesn't work for Coheed. It's almost like they wanted to forget who they were so they could use a bunch of 80s metal riffs and be even more over the top. Even though the album fails in its new direction, the core elements of Coheed still remain, with a foundation of rock with pop punk, metal and prog always sticking around for the party. Claudio's songwriting barely saves the album from being average.

Extremely catchy and enjoyable, this album has a lot of great tracks, especially the first 8. The downfall of the album is actually the ending of the story tracks, which are simply not up to par with the rest of the tracks on the album. The title track, Mother Superior and Feathers make up for this immensely however. A solid buy for any prog rock fan.

Good review. I think this album starts to falter at track 7 (Gravemakers & Gunslingers), then picks back up at track 11 (The End Complete). Whenever I listen to it, I always skip tracks 7-10.
