Super progressive metal album from one of the genre's leading bands. Heavy guitars are complimented by sweeping keybaords and a very strong vocal performance. Bass is audible as well, and plays a good part. As the name suggests, very symphonic and progressive yet catchy with tons of reply value, whether it be the fun "Sea of Lies" or the melodic "Candlelight Fantasia". Class album.

Not a power metal guy, and while this is more of a neo-classical power-prog thing (yep), I can;t deny it's genius. A gorgeous epic, awesome dual leads, excellent integration of neo-classical elements, epic vocals, and not too much cheese. This is a freaking classic. 100 %. There is no right or wrong with this album, because there is only one answer: phenomenal. Oh and the wankery is sweeeeet. Get this shit. This is a sick album, one that I will never forget, even though I don't listen too it often enough.

There should be a category for albums like this: "Just Short of Masterpiece." The real tragedy of this album is that even with three truly classic tracks, there are still just enough less-worthy moments which bring it right below the mark. Had the quality been more consistently strong, this would've earned the masterpiece mark with room to brag.

Just the title track would be enough to rate this album a Classic, but the fact that Mike R. will astound you with his shredding, solos and chugg-chugg-chugg riffs throughout the album, while Mike P. lays down some sweet classical keyboard lines and Mr. Allen just plain slays with his macho (there really is no other word for 'em) vocals, should be enough of a reason for any Prog. Power enthusiast (or anyone who just loves neo-classical or even heavy metal) to listen to this album.

The Divine Wings of Tragedy is by far the best Power Metal album I have ever heard. If you like bands like Evergrey or Sonata Arctica, and you haven't heard this album, this album will make those bands look as talentless as Suicide Silence. Well, maybe not that talentless, but pretty close.

This album is astounding in many ways. It is also is excellent proof that placing your songs in certain orders causes different effects. Particularly, having Pharaoh in the middle rather than somewhere near the beginning really mars the mood the first four tracks set up.
