Big step up from EOTE. The riffs this time are a lot more thought out and a lot of the songs (Behind the Sun, The River) are focused upon building and developing their initial sound which I really enjoy. As for the sound off's above me, rate your music is the place of the elitists and jerk-offs, I have never seen so many immature comments over a band in my life

Edge Of The Earth sounded completely outer-worldly and perfect so instead of attempting to outdo it, Monolith will stand right next to it with a darker more gloomy vibe

So the only real reason these guys ''suck'' is because KILL says so, and a lot of idiots chose to agree with him because they think it probably gets them respect. Let's be honest here guys, that's all it really is... there is nothing wrong with this album. The band are extremely talented and write some amazing songs. This is their best album yet, don't let the false score put you off, it couldn't be more wrong.

Wow...that's what first comes to mind after just one listen of this album. I was a little worried when I read that Sylosis were going for an old-school, live feel on this follow-up to the outstanding "Edge of the Earth", but this blew me away! Every song stands on its own as a masterpiece of creativity, but together they form Sylosis' best album and what is easily one of the best albums of 2012.

There are some really pretty moments on here that flourish into something beautiful (the opener and hidden track), but for the most part the "let's start out with thrashy heavy and incorporate some keyboards later on during the bridge" shtick that they make literally every track conform to gets old quick.

Sylosis went with Monolith for a more prog ala Opeth direction to accompany their usual thrash sound , however I believe that, if they will further explore that prog/atmospheric elements while cutting also some of their bay area influences, then they can do wonders in their future releases. Also, Josh Middleton should focus more to his guitar playing and leave the signing to someone else.

What Dwells Within is a ridiculously epic song. Definitely the stand out track for me. I think this album is the perfect mix of thrash and melody.
