I had a big ant prepared for this album. Then I listened to "Our Lady of Sorrows". And I was sad because thats a genuinely good song surrounded by mountains of crap. Everyone here does what they're supposed to do at almost an average level, but overall the songs feel hollow and as if their all missing something. Gerard wasn't even decent on this album, which is one of the few saving graces of their next record. Honestly, dont bother with this. You'll die a happier man. I'm not politcally correct stfu women.

This album has helped me rock out on so many occasions. I've went through at least two store bought copies and countless burned copies.
What this album does, and when it worked for me, is help me feel like a million dollars. After only a couple listens, I quickly learned nearly all the lyrics, and it sets up even the most amateur of vocalists opportunities to both sing and scream along until you are red in the face.
It may not be a masterpiece to anyone that attempts to label the band as "emo shit," but respectfully calling it "alternative rock" my help to swallow this pill a bit for those that don't dig MCR.
Regardless, this album has heightened my senses on many levels. It make me an MCR fan, and this album is definitely their best work in demonstrating their ability and desire to rock an audience.
That said, it definitely isn't for everyone. I must admit, I was much younger when I found the charm in this album, so if you are past your rebellious teen stage then it is most likely too late to enjoy this album.
It is just a really fun album, and definately one of my top favorites. If you own the real deal, just try reading the outside of the album for a little Easter egg.

While rough and coarse throughout the album in terms of production and vocals, My Chemical Romance's debut is a solid effort which showcased a sizable amount of potential with fast riffing, speedy drums and an overall sense of passion that helps add value to instrumentals and the vocals.

This album just wasnt that great. Typical considering their others (which arent great eithier). Coming in as repetative at points and also very annoying as well. The band can be very annoying especially with there so called "emo" style (which is a misconception considering "Emo" and emotional have a common meaning, THINK ABOUT IT!!!).Over all its not an album i would buy or even consider looking at. This band dissapoints.

So yeah this was the second cd of theirs that i got, the first being seet revenge, which i loved. I thought they'd be another fad but i still liked their sound. Now to get this out of the way, i dont care for this album musch and i really dont truly like any songs, just bits and peices of each one. The main problem being that these songs are way to goth, at least for me, but some people(emos, goths) will really like this one.

Truly their greatest album...so far.. it has a ton of emotion and a ton of consistancy. Both of the guitars work together great and the drums are amazing.
