  • ChoccyPhilly Cheers man, but I don't think too highly of that review as I was just getting into writing at the time. Still great to see someone get into Nils Frahm, album blew me away, especially For - Peter - toilet brushes - more, wow best songs I've ever heard hands down. Be sure to check out Olafur Arnalds' Eulogy for Evolution too. Equally as good imo

    September 2 05:10 PM
  • TalonsOfFire yeah dude their first is like upbeat eclectic math rock, 2nd sounds like dancey indie/post-rock and has this amazing aquatic sounding atmosphere, their latest is great too
    August 30 09:14 AM
  • TalonsOfFire You'd love their others, holy fire's great but probably their poppiest release.
    August 29 10:00 AM
  • TalonsOfFire Holy Fire is the only foals you have rated, if you haven't heard total life forever yet I highly recommend. It's among the best indie I've ever heard, and even has post-rock elements
    August 28 04:49 PM
  • Gameofmetal aight I'll give them a listen
    August 28 10:50 AM
  • Gameofmetal i also don't have much experience with the style suis la lune play so that might be why it wasn't so immediate for me, I'll give their other stuff a listen soon
    August 28 10:19 AM
  • Gameofmetal sorry, if it's any consolation I liked both those albums a bit more than Abandoned
    August 28 10:15 AM
  • SachikoM 5 or 6 years old so yeah...
    August 23 04:26 AM
  • SachikoM Before LivingThrowaway, I do not really remember. I'll see if I can dredge it up for you.
    August 23 04:11 AM
  • SachikoM I made fun of colloquial Australian speech by saying **** and **** a whole bunch of times. Dev did not take kindly.
    August 23 03:57 AM
  • SachikoM Would you believe me if I said I got banned again?
    August 23 03:54 AM
  • HerCloudwalkers dude, this can't go on forever, let's end this once and for all, just say hi

    August 18 01:37 AM
  • danielcardoso Hey man, seen as you seem to be an indie rock fan I suggest you check The Breeders. Sort of a side project from Kim Deal of Pixies, the first two albums especially rule. I even wrote a review for "Pod", go check it out :]
    August 13 12:48 PM
  • NightProwler Yeah, they're really good! Been playing them several times by now. Reminds me of PUP, Joyce Manor, Gnarwolves, those kinda bands. Just a Little rougher :)
    August 11 02:10 PM
  • adr lmao 144 mins is still pretty long tho :D
    August 10 03:10 PM
  • adr nice dig dude, gotta check more from Today Is the Day since Willpower was so good :]
    August 10 02:55 PM
  • Nimb49 You may not know this but, contrary to popular belief, I don't hate everything.
    August 9 07:52 AM
  • Nimb49 I used to love today is the day back in the day (heh). Don't listen to them anywhere near as much as I should these days but they've released some gems for sure. :]
    August 9 07:47 AM
  • Nimb49 Different strokes for different folks.
    August 9 07:43 AM
  • Nimb49 It doesn't help that he has as much variation as a brick wall.... I just don't find it scary in the slightest. There was a time when I did, but I've well and truly grown out of it, and realised that it's pretty one-dimensional and bland.
    August 9 07:39 AM
  • Nimb49 In my opinion it is just sloppily constructed, gimmicky, try-hard-to-be-spooky trash. It attempts to be kitsch, but doesn't manage to pull it off in the slightest.
    August 9 07:31 AM
  • Apetzar that sounded heated
    August 7 08:11 AM
  • Apetzar if you know what i mean :)

    August 7 06:11 AM
  • Apetzar cool... so who's your favorite porn star?
    August 4 10:10 AM
  • Apetzar are you into that kind of thing? or you just want to enjoy your emo records and that's the only thing you really ask for?
    August 4 04:46 AM
  • Apetzar what a surprise would it be if you're black, right?
    August 4 01:43 AM
  • Apetzar so how's my neighbour contry doin', my nigga?
    August 4 01:40 AM
  • Ending Thanks, I don't listen to too much but I like a lot of what I've heard. My friend who is super into emo recs me most things I listen to so he sort of filters out a lot of the generic garbage.
    August 1 09:10 AM
  • Mongi123 Yea I gotta try that one too. Is it different compared to Hymn?
    July 31 09:08 AM
  • Mongi123 What you think of Hymn To The Immortal world? I have that at a 4, nothing TOO mind blowing but I do say that Pure As Snow is one of the best post rock songs I've heard in a while.

    July 21 10:35 PM
  • BigHans lol yeah I don't have normal Sputnik taste.
    July 21 12:51 PM
  • BigHans How so
    July 21 12:31 PM
  • SnakeDelilah do they have truckers in finland
    July 20 08:46 PM
  • Nimb49 Of course not, we all aspire to progress and work our ways towards the top, it is but simple human nature. I wish friendly working environments were more common for me, but in a town of only 2300 and an unemployment rate of 15% plus, things tend to get competitive, and when you are indigenous (or non-white), prejudice sneaks it's way in. Glad you have a good working environment though, you deserve it. :]
    July 20 08:24 AM
  • Nimb49 in my opinion, as long as you work amongst a nice group of people, the enjoyment of the job is redundant. At my last job, I had three attempts at promotion to manager, and every time I got knocked down, even when I was the most experienced person there. The last time, they even put a trainee in as manager just because they didn't want me filling the role. Now that I've got a more accepting boss, I'm much happier at my job, even if it is still a drag.
    July 20 08:08 AM
  • Nimb49 Probably would be... Still, better than working in retail and copping constant abuse from racist rednecks and islamophobes. I imagine the pay's a bit better as well.
    July 20 07:51 AM
  • Nimb49 I'm sweating over medical results, being bored at work doesn't sound too bad. What do you do?
    July 20 07:39 AM
  • Nimb49 Sup art? Site seems pretty dead atm.
    July 20 07:27 AM
  • Nimb49 I'll do my best, but to create a list of that scale will take quite a while, and with school getting nuts for the next few weeks, I don't expect to be able to get the list done until maybe late August. I won't forget though, that I can promise...
    July 18 04:46 AM
  • Nimb49 The hardest part is keeping the list to a reasonable number... 100 albums plus descriptions would destroy both myself and everybody wishing to read it, especially with my incompetent prose. I'll make sure to add them tho. Just for you.
    July 18 04:16 AM
  • Nimb49 It's a tough one with JD. I want to like it, but every time I listen to it, the less I enjoy it. It's almost like diminishing returns... I'll make it up to you with my 90's emo list (when I finish it, of course).
    July 18 04:09 AM
  • Nimb49 Besides, I don't plan on spending as much time around here now that school's getting hectic... I'm trying to get my life in order. :]
    July 18 04:05 AM
  • Nimb49 Please don't sound so unenthusiastic about it all.... I'm not as miserable this time around. I'm even happy to an extent. Let me prove myself. :]
    July 18 04:02 AM
  • Nimb49 I am LT. Back with 100% more positivity.
    July 18 03:55 AM
  • Nimb49 Hey art. :]
    July 18 03:26 AM
  • BlueSwan Hey babe
    July 7 11:51 PM
  • Hurricanslash Nah, I just think that Hospice is a bit too sappy for it's own good. Too much tearjerking.
    July 7 06:35 AM
  • YakNips not the SCREAMO ALBUM OF THE YEAR i was hoping for (due to how great their last record was) but this is certainly worth your attention https://middlemanrecords.bandcamp.com/album/ours-is-the-cause-most-noble

    June 30 04:10 PM
  • LivingThrowaway You won't get me down today... I'm in a happy mood :D
    June 28 02:36 AM
  • LivingThrowaway i dunno if you do it on purpose but you're incredibly unfunny
    June 26 05:07 AM
  • Mall i've never listened to them! thanks man good shout
    June 25 05:21 AM
  • LivingThrowaway I'd like to think most of it is intentional.
    June 25 05:21 AM
  • barcafan21 you're probably around the same
    June 24 06:17 PM
  • barcafan21 is that my grade for my ratings?? if so ty
    June 24 06:16 PM
  • SnakeDelilah yeah same i really like the attention ^___^
    June 24 06:03 PM
  • SnakeDelilah you wouldn't know because he keeps deleting my s*** lmao
    June 24 05:49 PM
  • SnakeDelilah i literally posted one comment defending mall and opposing sweeneytodd and todd threw a tantrum (and still is tbh)
    June 24 05:46 PM
  • Toondude10 I was going to check out Determinism of Morality next.
    June 24 05:13 PM
  • Toondude10 for the time being, great album. I do plan on listening to their other albums though.
    June 24 05:04 PM
  • Mongi123 Yea as awesome as it is its one of those ones I just can't for the life of me decide how to describe it
    June 24 03:20 PM
  • Mongi123 I was think, how would you describe Souls At Zero genre wise? Was listening to it yesterday and couldn't quite put my finger on it haha just prog metal?
    June 24 03:02 PM
  • Mongi123 Ok cool. It thought their heavier parts were actually more well placed and they're focus on ambient sections was a huge more natural change of pace, I really like it. Almost sounded post metaly when it got heavy. Glad you tried it though.
    June 23 08:03 AM
  • manosg Damn, thanks for that haha
    June 23 05:12 AM
  • manosg Thanks Art, I appreciate it. Happened a couple of months ago, I think.
    June 23 04:59 AM
  • Mongi123 I wouldn't tell you about it unless it would surprise you and I think it will. It certainly did for me it's their most thoughtful work since Violent/Bright.
    June 23 12:14 AM
  • Mongi123 New God Is An Astronaut is out. It's actually pretty good not gonna lie. Better than the last one at least.
    June 22 09:51 PM
  • adr have you heard Viva Belgrado? Great post-rocky skramz from Spain bro you'll like it
    June 22 06:51 PM
  • trackbytrackreviews Sorry for the broad request heg
    June 22 05:08 PM
  • YakNips lol ill have to give it more of a chance once i have some time. this sounds far more promising tho https://ennuiscreamo.bandcamp.com/album/al-fin-di-mostrare-di-non-sapere-cosa-alcuna
    June 22 04:42 PM
  • trackbytrackreviews Nope
    June 22 06:23 AM
  • trackbytrackreviews Do you know any good melancholic, atmospheric albums?
    June 21 06:52 PM
  • Ryus i just really do not enjoy it. you heard the new sun kil moon btw?
    June 20 09:17 AM
  • SnakeDelilah the pax cecilia got me like "uh huh honey"
    June 19 09:49 PM
  • danielito19 zak has got to be the most incoherent user ever, babbling about twaddle this and s***e that all day
    June 15 10:58 AM
  • Mongi123 So Blood In Our Wells is sick man
    June 14 10:30 AM
  • RadicalEd Still convinced that Kid A is an in-joke I somehow missed. I could bump La dispute down to 1.5 if that would make you happy, because it's overdramatic and terrible in my ears. Wilco just makes me fall asleep, maybe a 2 is a bit harsh.
    June 14 10:19 AM
  • RadicalEd lemme guess your objections are: Kid A, Sunbather, Living as Ghosts... ?
    June 14 10:07 AM
  • RadicalEd i don't even like punk music mostly and I'm all over it.
    June 11 05:47 AM
  • RadicalEd omg the New Titus Andronicus.
    June 11 05:28 AM
  • Mort. Its a mindset.
    June 9 05:20 AM
  • Mort. Shikari gives me life meaning
    June 9 05:01 AM
  • Jacquibim likewise less-than-three
    June 8 04:55 AM
  • Jacquibim so apparently, we have a contributor who thinks this is not awful. sputnik confirmed worst website ever, thanks jac
    June 8 04:36 AM
  • YoYoMancuso i think you need to go through 2 different websites to get to it but this is where i found it. http://leaknewmusic.blogspot.com/2015/06/titus-andronicus-most-lamentable-tragedy.html
    June 6 04:59 PM
  • YoYoMancuso yo Art if you ain't heard the new Titus yet it's blowing my mind. Highly recommended!
    June 6 12:49 PM
  • Atari True true. I just saw u In a thread and remembered how much u like emo :3
    June 3 10:30 PM
  • Atari not sure if you saw or not, but i'm looking for emo recs if you have any!
    June 3 07:49 PM
  • Toondude10 Yeah, Whenever, If Ever sounded too familiar for me, particularly in the instrumentation. I feel like it's been done before, even though it's a beautiful record.
    June 3 04:28 PM
  • Toondude10 don't get me wrong, I completely understand why people hate it. If I were to think objectively I'd give it a 2.5 at most, but I thought it was a fun listen all in all.
    June 3 09:19 AM
  • ihaveaids ew
    June 2 01:07 PM
  • YakNips it somehow works tho. also that sadness album from this year is dope, was looking for some good new depressive bm. (definitely didnt stalk your ratings)
    June 1 10:12 AM
  • YakNips oh s*** and the new ostraca is well worth a spin too. reminds me of like ampere meets envy but also with death growls lol
    June 1 09:05 AM
  • YakNips or saintly rows i mean lol
    June 1 08:59 AM
  • YakNips that via fondo lp is still the closest thing for me. that saintly hollows album is pretty cool too tho
    June 1 08:58 AM
  • YakNips i feel like theres gotta be some great 2015 skramz out there im just missing it
    June 1 02:15 AM
  • Mall i've tried out city of caterpillar but never heard the whole album, will do cheers!
    May 31 07:51 AM
  • Mall tbf im nowhere near as listened as you are man so any recommendations would be awesome, anything i have 2.5 and above is stuff i kind of like
    May 30 06:37 PM
  • Mall my taste did a total 180 thats why
    May 30 02:35 PM
  • Mongi123 They kinda remind me of neurosis but they make great use of tribal drumming and also have some doom/psychedelic thrown in there. Definitely try them I was impressed.
    May 29 07:20 PM
  • Mongi123 You ever listen to Minsk?
    May 29 02:41 PM
  • TalonsOfFire Happy birthday! I guess it's not a big deal over there since the drinking age is 18 instead of 21 I think, but 21st birthday is like a right of passage here in the US for that reason. Only 5 more months for me
    May 26 04:28 PM
  • Mongi123 Ok they've been on my big list for a while so I'll get to them soon
    May 26 09:28 AM
  • Mongi123 Yea I gotta try those too and Godflesh seems interesting
    May 26 09:17 AM
  • Mongi123 I strongly prefer Isis but yea Cult Of Luna and Neurosis are the other ones in that regard.
    May 26 09:05 AM
  • Mongi123 You should man. They really do make beautiful passionate music.
    May 26 08:58 AM
  • Mongi123 Yea agreed. I've really been getting into more post metal stuff lately it's such an awesome genre. And Isis is like the best band ever now for me haha
    May 26 08:35 AM
  • Mongi123 Oh nice man hope it's awesome. The second disc truly makes that record.
    May 26 08:27 AM
  • Greem Hi! New album is out. https://lifeless4.bandcamp.com/album/coma, hope you'll enjoy
    May 25 12:53 PM
  • Apetzar u like listening to music?
    May 24 10:21 AM
  • ArsMoriendi I know ay least a half a dozen songs by them, but they never sparked my interested. "Third Planet" is decent, "Pistol" is one of the worst things I've ever heard, and "Ocean Breaths Salty" is pretty catchy, but yeah not too interested. (I also know "Float On", "Fire It Up" and "Dashboard.")
    May 22 02:40 PM
  • Adabelle You already got down some of my favourite stuff (Amanda Woodward, Shikari, Le Pre Ou Je.. etc. Nice to see there's love for that stuff still here
    May 22 05:19 AM
  • Adabelle That was based off the stuff you hadn't rated, looked through and yr taste is sweet. Sorry for not being more helpful aha
    May 22 05:10 AM
  • Adabelle Well idk about obscure any more, since uni I have not really paid enough attention to stuff. You haven't rated Everyone Asked About You - s/t (more casj emo/indie w/ female singer which is nice), Shotmaker (Canadian but the sickest band, I guess they're more hardcore but Mouse-Ear.. is such a good album, the slickest of licks on there), errrrr, i can't even think of anything that is American and actually screamo to recommend off the top of my head, wow I am sorry aha
    May 22 05:09 AM
  • Atari it's all good man haha. alright cool, that's good enough for me!
    May 21 07:03 PM
  • Atari have you even heard the new downfall of nur yet? slackin' smh
    May 21 06:57 PM
  • AlteryAlscuitAlt Nice. I presume it's because I stated that my ex turned me into a n**** instead of a newt as a joke. Pretty childish lol
    May 19 02:10 PM
  • Mongi123 Yea agreed so hard on that, but GIAA does it much better imo. Their s/t is a bit derivative but nonetheless I still find myself enjoying it a lot. Plus there first two are still amazing. Beyond those, yea they stagnate pretty hard.
    May 17 05:13 PM
  • Mongi123 Yea, in terms of simplistic post rock like that I think I largely prefer GIAA over them.
    May 17 05:05 PM
  • Mongi123 Really? Haven't met anyone who's heard of Hammock, but many people do at least know of Sigur Ros. And like literally everyone associates Explosions In The Sky with post rock.
    May 17 04:41 PM
  • Mongi123 It's songs like Stars In The Rearview Mirror that makes me wonder why Kenotic doesn't have like a 4.3 average and thousands of votes. Why does no one listen to this band haha
    May 17 04:11 PM
  • SnakeDelilah hey man you have any good recs for me from this year?
    May 16 04:14 PM
  • PitchforkArms art, i haven't been on here in a minute, what's been goin down? i'll leave this here too, my band put this s*** outhttps://rootsandruins.bandcamp.com/album/epigraph
    May 14 11:30 PM
  • TalonsOfFire Yeah check them out I don't think you'll regret it, same with a band called Thulcandra that I just wrote a review for, you might dig them even though they're heavy on the Darkthrone worship
    May 13 05:05 PM
  • TalonsOfFire You love both pure and genrebending so it's pretty surprising that you don't dig melodic. I mean it's not even that different, it sounds a lot like Bathory's BFD meets classic Darkthrone but sometimes slower tempos and acoustic guitar interludes. So in other words, amazing haha
    May 13 03:34 PM
  • TalonsOfFire Yeah I'm stoked to jam, also have you heard any Dissection? You'd love them
    May 13 03:07 PM
  • TalonsOfFire I can tell, and I'll rejam but that style just hasn't been doing it for me as much recently. Maybe I'll try that Pavement band and Hammock you all have been rec'ing me recently
    May 12 01:42 PM
  • TalonsOfFire Not yet, I'm having a hard time really getting into their heavier material. My ratings for their others are pretty generous. I might give it a try though
    May 12 01:17 PM
  • TalonsOfFire I hear about as much post-rock as ambient, but there's plenty of both. Also nice 5 for Eye of Every Storm, it's my favorite Neurosis as well
    May 11 10:59 PM
  • TalonsOfFire Oh I thought you would've said its shoegaze like their first two
    May 11 05:22 PM
  • TalonsOfFire I'm jamming Pygmalion and still remember your comment about it, how can you say there's no post-rock to it
    May 11 04:42 PM
  • Mort. dude i can be pretty oblivious to these things. ill pay attention this time lol
    May 11 08:00 AM
  • Mort. didnt know there was a story..............
    May 11 07:46 AM
  • Mort. yeah. only heard first 10 mins but it was sweet so im looking forward to checking rest of it. My digs are just what im currentely checking out, i may not actually be enjoying them (had to add that disclaimer so you didnt think i was enjoying issues lol)
    May 11 07:34 AM
  • chinesewhispers Well it's like most bands tend to become more musically advanced later in their career, plus maturity and refinement are qualities I tend to appreciate more than energy and livelihood.
    May 10 04:19 PM
  • chinesewhispers Dude it's not letting me do the greater than/less than sign so I'll just use commas. The Moon and Antarctica, Lonesome Crowded West and Good News, This is a Long Drive, We Were Dead. Haven't heard the new one
    May 10 03:52 PM
  • wacknizzle Ye, Jom resurrected me. Check this new song we wrote https://soundcloud.com/wacknizzle/vnfvrl-asingaThe album is done instrumentally, just need to do vox
    May 8 04:13 PM
  • SnakeDelilah I hope it's nothing like their last album
    May 7 10:35 AM
  • SnakeDelilah great band, might see them next month
    May 7 10:10 AM
  • trackbytrackreviews Idk I like much more the story of Travels, plus at only 32 mins long I find Travels to be very very consistent, while Lost Ground feels more like Travels Lite
    May 6 02:27 PM
  • trackbytrackreviews How come you 5'd Lost Ground but not Travels D:
    May 5 11:24 PM
  • BMDrummer have not, heard the name tho

  • Atari i'll be pretty shocked if you don't like it, it has the potential to be one of my all time favorite bm albums. Definitely one of the best to come out in recent memory
    April 17 04:18 PM

    April 17 02:05 PM

    April 11 06:03 AM
  • Apetzar It's a good thing you didn't remember my sput names, because Dev will ban me immediately if he finds out. And The Dudesons are the best thing that Finland has to offer!

  • Mongi123 Ok, say I wanted to try and get into that too though, would Swand be a good place to start with noise rock too?
    April 6 01:36 PM
  • Mongi123 I've decided I wanna jump on the Swans train. You suggest starting from the beginning? I think it'll be pretty cool honestly I've never done that with a band before.

  • LunaticSoul Yeah Art I don't know why but I remembered hearing Faustian Echoes back when it went out in streaming and didn't consider it much. It's one of their 'black'-est releases and I wasn't much interested into that sphere of Agalloch back then. Should probably spin it again
    April 2 12:41 PM
  • Mongi123 Fair enough, I think it's pretty sweet.
    April 1 04:47 PM
  • Mongi123 Didn't love Galar's new album? I'm digging it a lot so far. The cleans are a bit subpar but musically it rules hard.
    April 1 04:34 PM
  • DoctorDoom How's everything going, brutha? Hope all is well.
    March 31 10:00 AM
  • Mongi123 Well I think they are. Some of the songs on Devil and God are downers, especially Millstone, Jesus Christ and Handcuffs, but we all hear and feel different s***.
    March 30 05:06 PM
  • TalonsOfFire Yeah, am I wrong? I was half joking anyway
    March 30 04:49 PM
  • Mongi123 Haha why? I mean, he's pretty much right, but there are other band's I listen to that do it better than BN imo

    March 30 04:04 PM

    March 30 11:43 AM

    March 24 04:22 PM

    March 24 04:18 PM
