There was a time when 4 creative guys mixed her minds to create a sound powerful, unique, progressive, marvellous.... They touched th sky, they reached the stars. They make a LP that kept 740 weeks (from 1973 to 1988). Then, the leader make a history of a man that was numb, ambitious, a son of a bitch, another brick in the wall, and the leader decided to include "his" band in the project. Then he made "the final cut", the end of a era, of an epic era....Then legal problems, fights, ego fights in fact....The beggining of a new era for one, the end of a great band for the most.

After a "good" (just good) Lp named A momentary laps of reason, this band made tours, tv shows, concerts for a good cause.... anyway. In 1993 the guitarist on the band was resting in his private yate on the Tamesis and thinking: "hell, I wanna make an album, I going to call Rick (Wright) & Nick (Mason) and the "others" (guy pratt, tim renwick, jon carin, the girls..) and let`s make it in my boat's studio. The album was "the DIvision Bell" .

The album stars with CLUSTER ONE, an instumental piece, like the style of AMLOR (with signs of life). A forgottable piece. Then comes WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?, a "good" song (it's my favorite), with the gilmour's classic solo. It follows POLES APART, a mellow song (that's all). MAROONED, another instrumental, better than cluster one. A GREAT DAY FOR FREEDOM a song against Waters. WEARING THE INSIDE OUT, the only song where Wright makes a real composition (not as simple session musician). TAKE IT BACK, a poppy song like COMING BACK TO LIFE. KEEP TALKING with a Stephen Hawking's introduction. LOST FOR WORDS another song against Roger. HIGH HOPES, the best song.... and that's it.

Seven years passed since the last LP (a momentary lapse of reason), and Pink Floyd come back with his phostumus album, thanks God. The album was very easy listening, with a clean sound, nothing new, there's no risk. They dissapear wiht a few dignity, with a bunch of session musicians..... It's a shame. It's a Pink Floyd miles away of THE WALL, THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, miles away of SYD BARRET (RIP).

Pesonnel:
DAVID GILMOUR- guitar, vocals, bass, keyboards and programming (it sounds like he did all the work....oh, he did it actually)

NICK MASON- drums and percussion

RICHARD WRIGHT-keyboards and vocals

The OTHERS:
JON CARIN: programming & additional keyboards
GUY PRATT: bass
GARY WALLIS: played & programmed percussion
TIM RENWICK: guitars
DICK PARRY: tenor saxopohone (the same that appears in DSOTM & WYWH)
BOB EZRIN: keyboards & percussion
SAM BROWN; DURGA McBROOM, CAROL KENYON, JACKIE SHERIDAN & REBECCA LEIGH-WHITE: backing vocals

Track list:
1.-CLUSTER ONE
2.-WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME
3.-POLES APART
4.-MAROONED
5.-A GREAT DAY FOR FREEDOM
6.-WEARING THE INSIDE OUT
7.-TAKE IT BACK
8.-COMING BACK TO LIFE
9.-KEEP TALKING
10.-LOST FOR WORD
11.-HIGH HOPES

i didnt like your review, its very clrear that you don't like the pre waters period, i think it's ok, gilmour can't write as waters does, but pratt can play bass far much better,
this album it's ok, i enjoy it, but i prefer the divison bell version made in pulse, damn that was cool

This is poor for Pink Floyds standards and poor in any terms. Never got into this one, about the only PF I didnt.

Nah not really, the only thing really lacking on this album are the lyrics.

Wow this was a bad review...the first paragraph boggled my mind with it's incoherent sentances.

Oh dear.
This review is terrible - but it's a first, so I'll just say read what others have done and take heed.
Love the album, by the way.

Sorry for my review (lol) It's my first. I'll try to improve.... anyway thanks for the comments.... I should say that i love Pink Floyd, but I have to admit that The Division Bell is a bad album for a band like them. Nothing like The Piper at the gates of dawn, WIsh You Were Here, Dark side of the moon....
