Followers of Rise Against, convinced social and political opinions as Anti-Flag, Strike Anywhere is one of the last band emerging from the real punk rock scene. Two guitars, fast pace drums, loud and clear bass, the recipe to successful energetic punk.
With their previous album, Exit english, they made it clear that they could do an album of punk energetic as hell.
Now, with their release of 2005, To live in discontent, Strike Anywhere added a couple of songs to their already-growing repertoire. Nothing to go crazy about, this album has given the fans a good 20 bucks investment. It is a punk-loaded CD with old songs from their previous recordings, contribution of other artists pieces with songs like Two sides, Values here and Where are they Now?
The album begins absolutely fantastically with super-energetic song Asleep, who is, in my opinion, a must-listen-to of the album. Other songs like Cassandratic equation and chorus of one adds the tone of energy to the album. The song Sunspotting, althought having bad quality of recording, makes great old-punk song. The lyrics are great and making sense, going from politics to social distress calls, going throught a song dedicated to punks who let the movement down. Great slower songs with catchy choruses, old-school song, fast-pace energetic songs, you get something for your money here.
Althought a bit not accessible ( In fact, I must admit it took me a couple of listenings to really appreciate it, instead of a first-look love with Exit English), this album remains a recommandation for the Strike fans. But if I may suggest, this should not be your first Strike Anywhere CD.
