This is my first review. I will try to make this as unbias as possible because this is one of those bands that everybody loves to hate... I personally think this band is great, but like I mentioned, I will review the songs as unbias as possible... I'll get started now.
This is HIM's third album and I think the last good album they've made.
Salt In Our Wounds- This is a great opener in my opinion and one of my personal favorites. It starts off slow and then when it gets to the chorus it gets a bit heavier. It has a pretty good solo, nothing too difficult but it sounds cool. A great track. 5/5
Heartache Every Moment- This song was one of the singles. It took me quite a while to get into this song. I owned the album for about a year and a half before I started liking it. I think the intro lyrics are pretty cool as well "From Lashes to ashes and From lust to dust." 4.5/5
Lose You Tonight- The intro is a nice bass line with like a hawk screeching (at least that's what I've always thought it was) in the background. The vocals throughout the song song pretty distorted and it has a fairly decent interlude. Nothing too "WOW" about the song, but it's a good listen. 3.5/5
In Joy And Sorrow- Here is another single from the album. It has a very soothing and nice guitar riff and Valos vocals are beautiful in this song. It's a great track off teh album and favorite of a lot of HIM fans. 4.5/5
Pretending- Here's yet another single and my favorite track off the album. The songs starts of slow with "Love is a flame that can't be tamed and though we are its willing prey we are not the ones to blame" and ends with those lines. The song has a very good solo near the end of the song and the track itself is just great. 5/5
Close To The Flames- This track is one of the slow songs and as well another single. I personally don't like this song. It has nice lyrics, but it just bores the hell out of me. 2/5
Please Don't Let Go- Here's a decent track. It has nothing to it that makes it stand out in my mind and I find myself skipping it often, but that doesn't make it such a bad song. It sounds more upbeat in lyrics and in music to me. Still 3.5/5
Beautiful- Here's another slow track that just has Ville talking about how beautiful he thinks some girl is. It starts of slow and it takes a while to get into the song and once it does it's not a very good one. It ends with him just repeating how "Beautiful" he thinks the girl is. I think it's the worse track of the album. 1/5
Don't Close Your Heart- Here's another track I think is great. It reminds me of "Please Don't Let Go" but I think this song is better. For some reason it puts a smile on my face (I don't knwo why really) and it's just a good song overall. The ending of this song just leads on to the next song. 4/5
Love You Like I Do- Many people don't like this track, I love it. It's Ville singing in a deeper voice (I at first thought it was someone else) and what I believe is an organ. Don't hold my word to that. Still the song sounds so dark and my second favorite on this album. I think it's a great closer to one of the better HIM albums. 5/5
Overall, this album is the last great thing they've done. For the album I give it a 4/5
