Review Summary: Nice album with all the singles rocking out!
I don't know why 'Heathen Chemistry' is such an under rated album. I mean it has some of the most wonderful songs of Oasis like Stop Crying Your Heart Out,The Hindu Times, Little By Little, Songbird and of course She is Love. The album has 11 tracks out of which 5 tracks are worth listening. What more anyone would want? It doesn't give me any pleasure to rate falsely. So, I am writing this in earnest : '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?' has been the best album, 'Definitely Maybe' was good too. But I will give 'Heathen Chemistry' at least 3rd spot. It is better than 'Be Here Now', 'Standing on the Shoulder of Giants' and 'Dig Out Your Soul' and equivalent to 'Don't Believe the Truth'.
Ratings of the songs that are worth listening :-
'The Hindu Times' - 4 stars
'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' - 4 stars
'Little By Little' - 3.s stars
'She is Love' - 3.5 stars
'Songbird' - 4.5 stars
Yeah! Gotta say this, Liam's first ever written single 'Songbird' is the track pick of the the album and for the first time it beats all the other singles written by Noel Gallagher. I am saying that it is the first time because in all the other albums, band mates (other than Noel) wrote songs just for the namesake. But Songbird is truly a refreshing song, not to mention about its short length but as far as song is good, length doesn't matter.
So that's my rating for the album = 3.5 stars.
Give it a try with unprejudiced mind and I'm sure you'll at least 'like it' if not 'love it'. The album may not be very successful commercially, but if the the songs are nice, who cares about being a commercial success?
