Recession Time, Arithmetic, and Other...
Ever wanted to know what mud sounds like? This anvil of an album still manages to be very well done through the noisy assault that it mercilessly lashes out on the listener. There is little originality or structure to this, though, which makes it hard to enjoy in some points. There is a subtle amount of variance throughout that shows the band perhaps being a bit too ambitious and fails to hit the nail at times. Good album, overall, and surprisingly overlooked.

Look What I Did My First Time
Musically ahead of its time but its punk attitude feels unwelcome and may cause the listener to be uncomfortable at times (think Mindless Self-Indulgence meets The Dillinger Escape Plan). Some of these songs are good and run with great ideas but the overwhelming immaturity, though tongue-in-cheek, bogs the experience down.

TTNG This Town Needs Guns
An expertly crafted and quietly genius ride that blends technical instrumentation and excellent vocal performances. A sparkling debut from a group of consistently great lads.

Angels In The Architecture The Distance In Writing
This is a great 90s emo effort that might have arrived a bit too late. Despite its lack of originality, the songs ebb in and out of excellent melodies and palpable emotions with the fluidity of the genre's forefathers. Also, the vocalist has one of the best voices I have ever heard. Imagine a mix between Jeremy Enigk and Peter Gabriel and you've got this guy.

  • deathschool Atlas Drugged is a basically masterpiece to me, but with your criticisms of the band I guess I could see why you wouldn't like it.

  • Beauville88 Thanks!I agree, I find it odd that I seem to be the "reverse" Circa Survive fan here on Sputnik (loved Blue Sky Noise and Violent Waves, with everything else being decent). Didn't really understand the praise the album was getting, so I thought I'd add a counter-point.
