  • CaptainDooRight what did you envision over those drum demos you sent me, a straight up riffing style or a more dissonant feel? What band did you have in mind or what do you visualize as the guitars sounding like?

  • cryptologous Been jamming it some more today, alongside Current 11. While I do like it, Current 11 just riffs harder. The thrashy side has been reduced considerably and on the whole, the album has headed more towards the likes of Grave Miasma and Cruciamentum LPs in regards to how it is written. Have you checked out the new Necroven album? That thing is loaded with riffs. Nothing crazy but still a fun time imo

  • cryptologous It kinda feels like the jump between the Kyrpts demo and Unending Degradation. Where Current 11 is almost a non-stop riff machine, Temple is considerably more narrative-driven with heavy emphasis on album flow. And, well, more reverb.

  • cryptologous shaarimoth is the reason i don't bother listening to nile tbqh. and yea, vocals still rule. track "Beast of Lawlessness" has one of the most insane vocal intros i have heard in a good while. they are a bit lower in the mix and on the whole, the album is taking more steps towards doomier, atmospheric sides of dm (reverb abounds). kinda hoped they'd stick with the Current 11 "atmospheric interlude here, hard riffing there" but there are still some mighty fine riffs.
