Post rock act Hammock have announced a new album has been already recorded and is currently being mixed. Entitled Oblivious Hymns, it will be the band's most orchestrated work to date. Its' tentative release date is sometime in October.
The band has also compiled a record consisting of several songs that were never available on any LPs and released them under the title EPs, Singles and Remixes. It contains three previously unreleased tracks, several rare singles, three key EPs, and a number of collaborations with artists such as Steve Kilbey and timEbandit Powles from The Church. Included is North West East South, an EP that was previously only available as the soundtrack for the Hammock - Thomas Petillo photobook the band released in 2010. Sigur Rós have released the lyric video to their new track 'Ísjaki' - (meaning 'Iceberg' in English) to YouTube.

The track is taken from the band's upcoming studio album 'Kveikur', which is set to be released in Europe and the USA on June 17th and 18th respectively. This album follows only a year after their well received previous album 'Valtari', and sees them take a significantly different direction to their previous effort.

Scottish post-rock heroes Mogwai have released a digital EP comprising of four tracks taken from the French television series, Les Revenants. Les Revenants EP is available on iTunes, Amazon and other digital retailers for now and on January 28 the band will release a physical 10" version limited to 2000 copies worldwide through their own label, Rock Action Records.

Earlier this year Icelandic post-rock act, Sigur Ros, launched an experimental film project. The goal was to have film makers create unique works surrounding songs from their newest album, Valtari. The band has recently announced the contest's winner: the video, "Skinned." It is accompanied by the album's closer, "Fjogur Piano." Featuring scenes both beautiful and unsettling, the band praised the filmmaker for its simplicity and originality. The creator was awarded with $5,000, as well as Sigur Ros themed gifts.

This single will be an introduction to an upcoming full length album, which this time will probably manifest in some kind of a physical form. There is no official release date yet, but AUTISM claims that the new album should be finished in early 2013.

Canadian instrumental rock titans Godspeed You! Black Emperor will be releasing their first album in a decade, ALLELUJAH! DON'T BEND! ASCEND!, on October 19th via Constellation Records.
According to reports from concert goers, the album is already available at the band's current US tour. Godspeed You! Black Emperor's last album, Yanqui U.X.O., was released in 2002 and shortly after the band went on a hiatus which ended in 2010.
