The Limousines new song 0 replies

Indie pop band The Limousines have premiered their new "Love Is a Dog From Hell" for their sophomore album Hush being released on June 6th. The band made an overwhelming amount of money on their Kickstarter to make this project by only asking for $30,000; the band received about 2x as much as that on September 25th last year with nearly $76,000. This money has allowed the band to release their new album and song independently. Check out the song and teaser trailer for the new album below.

Annuals release new album 4 replies

Indie pop band Annuals have been quiet and mention of a new album was well on the way, but that was back in December 2011. Since then, nothing had come and their last release was an EP back in 2010 called Sweet Sister. But a couple days ago, on April 23rd, the band released a new album Time Stamp with an explanation of the delay, the future of the band and other issues. The statement below is from the Bandcamp page where you can purchase the 11 track album for $8.

This is Time Stamp. Whether it's a swan song, a comeback, or something else... Even we aren't sure. This is the first Annuals full length in nearly five years with just five songs in between, and even those songs from Sweet Sister (which were supposed to be a quick "hold-you-over") have gathered some dust. There have been good, bad, hard, and harder times since our departure from Canvasback and Columbia records in 2010. It seems we've all individually landed on our feet but for better or worse in d ...more

New of Montreal Album Complete 8 replies

Athens Indie Pop band have announced via their Facebook page that a new album, Lousy With Sylvianbriar, is complete and set to release at some point this Fall. Songwriter Kevin Barnes has stated that this album will feature a departure in sound from the last few albums, citing inspirations such as The Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Flying Burrito Brothers, and Sylvia Plath. He wrote the songs during a two week "self-imposed isolation experiment."
Fans of the band who contributed to the Kickstarter last year can also look forward to Young Froth / Taypiss which is being shipped out this week. This release features the earliest known material recorded by the band. Also, come Summer, the band's documentary, Song Dynasties, should also be complete.
Here is a song from the rarities compilation:

New MGMT album due in June 27 replies

MGMT has certainly been quiet these past 3 years. The details about the supposed Self Titled album were little to none for a long time. Now it seems MGMT has officially confirmed on Rolling Stone that their follow up to Congratulations will be out tentatively in June. The duo, Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden, told RS that they had recorded the whole thing themselves just as they did on their previous album and that the new songs will supposedly be influenced by Aphex Twin and house music.
Ben Goldwasser stated that the band is "not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it... There's no illusion on [Columbia Records'] part that that we're going to turn into a Top 40 band."
Regarding the album title, nothing has been confirmed whether or not it will be Self Titled or if the title has changed.

of Montreal Documentary 14 replies

Less than a week remains for of Montreal's fundraiser to bring a documentary over fifteen
years in the making to realization. of Montreal's feature-length Song Dynasties will
cover the entire chronology of the band, focusing primarily on their gaudy, lengthy tours.
Last month, the band initiated a Kickstarter campaign, that is nearing its goal of $75,000
to bring the project to fruition.

In addition to the documentary, of Montreal will also be releasing a fourteen-track album,
Young Froth/Taypiss, which will feature the band's earliest known recordings. Kevin
Barnes has often hinted at their existence, and should the project be a success, they will
finally be released. Here are three "new" songs from the album:
