Jimi Jamison of Survivor has died 4 replies

Jimi Jamison, who was the singer of the rock band Survivor in the 80s and again in the 00s, died at the age of 63 following a heart attack on Sunday, reports TMZ.

According to his booking agent, Jamison died of a heart attack at his home in Memphis after performing with Survivor the night before.

The band released a statement on its Facebook page as follows: "The entire Survivor family is very shocked and saddened by the passing of our brother Jimi Jamison. Our thoughts, love and prayers go out to his family and friends".

Misha Mansoor reveals new tracks 27 replies

Microsoft/343 Industries has announced that Misha Mansoor (Periphery/Bulb/Animals As Leaders) has contributed two new tracks for the remastered Halo 2 Anniversary, which is part of the Halo Master Chief Collection. These tracks will take the place of Breaking Benjamin's and Incubus' original contributions.

Along with Mansoor, original contributor to the Halo 2 soundtrack, Steve Vai has also contributed to a rerecording of the Halo 2 theme. Vai recorded his tracks along with full orchestral accompaniment at Skywalker Sound.

These tracks, as well as a full rerecording of the entire Marty O'Donnell/Michael Salvatori score, will be released in physical and digital formats on the day of the game's release, November 11th 2014. A two disc cd and a limited edition vinyl edition are currently planned.

Scarlet release new song 18 replies

Richmond, VA based chaotic metalcore band Scarlet has released their first material since their hiatus was announced in 2006.

The song, entitled 'The Acid Reign', was recorded in 2009 and is just now being released. It's also the first song to feature original vocalist Jon Spencer (now of Spitfire) since 2004's Cult Classic.

Glenn Cornick passes away 13 replies

Glenn Cornick, founding member and bass player for Jethro Tull during the group's early years, passed away on August 29th due to heart failure. Cornick contributed to Tull's first three albums, This Was, Stand Up and Benefit. He was 67 years old.

Band leader Ian Anderson released the following statement on the band's website:

"It is with great sadness that we learned today of the passing of Glenn Cornick, bass player with Jethro Tull from the band’s inception 1968 until 1970. Of course, he had also played with the John Evan Band for the year during 1967 and so his contribution to the geographical transition from Blackpool to London and into the professional music scene was considerable.

Glenn was a man of great bonhomie and ready to befriend anyone – especially fellow musicians. Always cheerful, he brought to the early stage performances of Tull a lively bravado both as a personality and a musician.
