Thursday, November 5th With hints of a Bloc Party hiatus being dropped multiple times over the past few months, Scottish electro DJ & producer Hudson Mohawke has let the cat out of the bag concerning a Kele Okereke solo LP.
During an interview with BBC Radio, Mohawke claimed "It hasn’t been finalised yet, but I’m doing a bit of stuff for Kele from Bloc Party’s solo album. He’s doing a record with one of the guys from Spank Rock.”
As expected, this is likely to suggest that the upcoming solo album will have an electro/dancey style similar to Bloc Party's most recent releases. A new Animal Collective song, entitled 'What Would I Want Sky,' from a recent BBC session has surfaced. The song is likely to appear on the band's forthcoming EP Fall Be Kind due out in December.

Sunday, July 19th Scottish indie rock band Frightened Rabbit have finished recording their third album and will start mixing soon.
Frontman Scott Hutchinson, in an interview with The Village Voice, describes some new sounds and themes that stray away from the more pop-oriented 2008 release The Midnight Organ Fight.
Hutchinson said: "It's really just the treatment of the songs that has changed. The way I write songs is still the same-I still love a chorus. There's something nice about having that kind of standard pop structure to hang something slightly different onto. Lyrically, it doesn't focus on the same theme..I wrote a lot of the record in quiet solitude. A friend of mine had an empty house on the east coast of Scotland. Tiny, tiny village, very remote.
"And I went there to write it. A lot of it focuses on the sea and the remoteness of that. Not necessarily my situation, but the general feeling of losing yourself within something, whether that ...more

Recorded in New Orleans earlier this year, Mo Beauty features the back band of George Porter, Jr. on bass, Stanton Moore on drums, Robert Walter on keys, and Matt Sutton on baritone and pedal-steel guitars. Steve Berlin (Los Lobos) produced.
Ounsworth insists that it's not a New Orleans record, but acknowledges the effect of his surroundings on the final product: "New Orleans informed the spirit of the record, as it should. It's not a 'New Orleans record,' though, because, besides "Holy, Holy, Holy Moses," most of the songs weren't written specifically for New Orleans . . . Any record can be influenced by its location aesthetically, and some are more than others. So it was with this record . . .it is New Orleans, after all."

Friday, July 10th Anberlin frontman Stephen Christian (under the moniker Anchor and Braille) will release his first solo album, entitled Felt, on August 4 via his own Universal imprint Wood Water Records.
The project began as a collaboration with Copeland's Aaron Marsh. The latter removed his name from the project in its early stages, but stayed on to produce and mix the album. Felt has been likened by Christian to "exploring a museum at night with all the lights off." He continued: "There are moments of mastery on this record, and the closer you study the lyrics, songs, & ethereal layers the more beauty and enjoyment you will get out of it."
