Toro Y Moi streams new album 2 replies

What For?, Chaz Bundick’s fourth album under the moniker Toro y Moi is now available to stream over at NPR.

Never one to stand still, musically-speaking, What For? sees the musician pursue a warm, fuzzed-out strain of '70s power-pop, occasionally intermixed with '90s indie-rock jangle. Like Bundick’s previous releases, What For? makes for a prefect springtime/summer listen.

What For? is out on the 7th April, via Carpark.

Waxahatchee streams Ivy Tripp 15 replies

Alabama indie music sad person Katie Crutchfield is streaming her third solo album under the moniker Waxahatchee, entitled Ivy Tripp, today on the NPR website ahead of its April 7 release via Merge Records. Despite leaking in its entirety in early February, Crutchfield has been building hype for Ivy Tripp with published articles and pre-release songs, bolstered by an acclaimed performance at SXSW earlier this month. Crutchfield is set for a long run of U.S. and European dates beginning on the day of the album's release, in addition to her Australian debut with two shows down-under announced just this week.

On Ivy Tripp, Waxahatchee's simple, emotionally devastating aesthetic--having only just been subjected to the full-band treatment on her last album Cerulean Salt--is expanded upon with a much broader instrumental pallet than ever before, applying a range of timbral effects and production tricks to the core instrumentation of vocals, guitar, bass and drums. The U.S. hates Bieber, Nickelback 68 replies

Online newspaper Mic.com has just released the results of a consensus on the most hated musicians and artists in the United States. As it turns out, only two names appeared:

Justin Bieber and Nickelback.

Beiber came in at No. 1 with 27 states citing him as the worst musician (mostly within the coastal states), while Nickelback came in second with 23 states (mostly within the Mid-West), thus bringing the total to 50 states, the entire country of the U.S.. Despite this, many people don't have a specific reason as to why they hate them. Another consensus asked the question as to why, but most people just simply said, "they just suck," or "I don't know."
