Incubus reveal upcoming releases 2 replies

Nu-metal funk-turned pop rock five-piece Incubus have announced plans for not one but two releases in 2015.

Under Island Records, the band plan to release one EP "in February or March" and the other later in the summer, totaling an album's worth of material. Guitarist Mike Einziger describes the new material as "pretty ambitious" and states that in the new sessions "we've written our slowest song, but also our heaviest song".

Morbid Angel working on new material 17 replies

Floridian death metal legends Morbid Angel are done touring and are ready to write for their ninth studio album. After briefly dipping their toes into industrial territory on their critically acclaimed opus Illud Divinum Insanus, it's hard to say where the band will go from here.

Vocalist and bassist David Vincent said this in a recent interview with Planet Mosh TV:

“It’s time to write. Whatever it ends up being is whatever it ends up being. I don’t think about anything when I’m creating. It comes and that’s what happens.”

So the million dollar question is: will Morbid Angel expound on the nu-industrial movement they teased with 'Radikult', or will they go back to their true death metal roots? Unfortunately, only time will tell.

In the meantime, don't forget to check out the Illud Divinum Insanus - The Remixes compilation for your Morbid Angel fix!

Fair to Midland side project announced 17 replies

After a silence lasting nearly two years - the last proper update was posted in March 2013 - Fair to Midland's Facebook account has been revived, if only briefly, to reveal the new project of keyboardist Matt Langley and ex-drummer Brett Stowers.

The brief status reads:
"Check out Brett and Matt's new project Erstwhile! New music coming in 2015!"

Followed by a link to the Facebook page of new band Erstwhile, whose members include former
members of Fair To Midland, Edgewater, and Low Gear." The band is set to hit the studio to record their first album in 2015.

Although no definitive statement on the status of Fair to Midland still has been released, judging by the fact that most members have moved on to other projects - and the fact that Matt Langley is referred to as a "former" Fair to Midland member despite never officially leaving the band - it would be safe to assume a reunion isn't in the cards an ...more

New Ensiferum album 21 replies

Finnish folk metal band Ensiferum have announced their upcoming sixth studio album, titled One Man Army. The band decided to take a different approach to recording the record, using predominantly analog recording.

Bassist Sami Hinkka said of the album:

"Recording process was long, hard, rewarding and full of incredible moments. Instruments were actually played and left as they were instead of creating tracks from hundreds of different takes, moving them to the grid and modifying things. Of course computers were used but overall we made everything as analog as possible. Listeners can experience a better sound and natural groove, something that we think most metal albums lack these days. Overall, the album sounds much more like a band playing live rather than ‘midi-metal'".

One Man Army is slated to be released on February 24, 2015 via Metal Blade Records.
