Earlier this year he announced what was hoped to be a temporary absence as a result of surgery. He later told Classic Rock: “I had pancreas cancer so I had to have that removed. Not the entire pancreas; but still, it was bad news. They’ve cut out the bad bit. I’ve had a bit of chemo, got to have that, which ...more

Ray Manzarek, one of the most talented keyboardists in the history of rock music, passed away today in Rosenheim, Germany after a long battle with bile duct cancer at the age of 74.
In reflection of this tragic loss, fellow bandmate and guitarist Robby Krieger said he was "deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and bandmate." Later adding that he was thankful for having been able play alongside Manzarek for the last decade during The Doors' reunion tours. The mother of deceased Alice in Chains lead singer Layne Staley has sued her son’s former
bandmates, claiming they cut her out of royalties owed on the band’s hits.
Staley’s mother Nancy McCallum contends the surviving members of Alice in Chains owe her
