Aerosmtih guitarist Joe Perry has claimed that Steven Tyler quit the band after a recent concert in Abu Dhabi:

"Part of the problem is that Tyler doesn’t return his phone calls. He’s notorious for that. That’s one thing I’ve learned to live with. I try to overlook it. I like to pick my battles. Frankly, the last few months I’ve been wanting not to rock the boat. I don’t want him canceling any more gigs."

U2 Re-Build Berlin Wall 37 replies

U2 will perform a free concert for 10,000 lucky Berliners on Thursday night to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The MTV-sponsored concert will take place by the Brandenburg Gate, mere metres from the site on which the wall had been built. The four-song mini-concert was planned to coincide with the 2009 EMAs taking place in the city on the night.
However, seemingly oblivious to the irony, MTV has insisted that the event will take place behind a protective barrier, disallowing all non-ticket holders from seeing the show.
A spokesperson for Berlin's city government placed all of the responsibility on MTV, stating: "I find it rather unfortunate and unusual for organisers of a free concert – particularly one of this nature – to demand such a barrier,” said a city spokesperson."
An MTV spokesperson countered, claiming that the barrier was necessary to allow the surrounding businesses to continue operation during the perfor ...more

The Red Hot Chili Peppers could release a follow up to 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium' by October 2010 according to drummer Chad Smith who told Clash Magazine "We're gonna write for a while, it usually takes us a while". He said the record could be released "sometime next year, maybe this time [next year]".
Smith also said that Flea's experience working with Thom Yorke recently had led to him receiving a CD of electronic music from the bassist. Smith didn't rule out the band going in an electronic direction saying "You never know. We've got songs with piano on them right now".
Chad Smith also commented on the band's recent nomination for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame saying "It's a real honor to be nominated".

Canadian Singer Killed By Coyotes 103 replies

A 19-year-old Canadian folk singer has been killed after being attacked by coyotes while hiking in eastern Canada.

Taylor Mitchell was on tour in Nova Scotia and had taken the day off on Tuesday to go hiking in the Cape Breton Highlands national park.

Mitchell was attacked by a group of coyotes and, though other hikers heard her screams and managed to call for help, she died in hospital in Halifax on Wednesday morning.

Mounties on the scene managed to shoot one of the animals, which escaped, and later managed to find and kill another.

Mitchell was nominated for this year's Canadian Folk Music Awards in the "Young Performer of the Year" category, having released her debut album earlier this year.

That's when things got interesting. The singer-slash-guitarist's upload failed when MySpace prompted him to say that EMI owned the copyright, a fact the singer has reportedly disputed.

Nonetheless, the song, presumably a cut off of his upcoming release Addicted, should be available in some capacity in the near future.

The album's title track was posted three weeks ago on NoiseCreep.com.

The second album in a cycle of four, Addicted is due out on November 17th.

I love the idea that that's where people are getting music and we'd love to be in that world. We'll figure something out."

He continued: "What The Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we’re interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation. We didn't want to be caricatured."

New Alice Cooper Single 8 replies

A new single called "Keepin Halloween Alive" can be found on Alice Cooper's Myspace.
In regards to it's creation,
"“At home my family all gathers around an old spooky tree decorated with skulls and bones in the living room, and we exchange gifts,” says Cooper. “It’s our holiday. We even all have matching black-and-orange Halloween sweaters! I wanted a theme song for people like me, and for us Halloween never ends. In the chorus I say, ‘I’m keepin’ Halloween alive, baby, 3–6–5’... and I mean it!”
'Keepin’ Halloween Alive', was co-written and co-produced by Cooper with Piggy D. (a member of ROB ZOMBIE’s band), who played rhythm guitar/backup vocals. Dave Pino (POWERMAN 5000) is featured on lead guitar, and David Spreng (BOB DYLAN, THE BRAVERY) on drums."

RHCP Nominated For HOF 70 replies

The Hot Chili Peppers and a few other bands have been nominated to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame on their first year of eligibility. Bands are only eligible for nomination after their first album or single is released.

"It's a real honor to be nominated in our first year of eligibility" said Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to Billboard.

"Obviously the Hall of Fame has excellent musical taste."

The final decision on inductees is expected to be made in January, while the Hall of Fame itself is set to celebrate a special anniversary. Turning 25 years old in 2009, the organisation is due to hail this milestone with a series of special shows.
The concerts are set to take place at October 29th and 30th at New York's Madison Square Garden with performances expected from the likes of U2, Metallica, Stevie Wonder and Simon & Garfunkel.
