Soilwork tease new song 5 replies

Swedish melodeath band Soilwork has officially released a teaser from the title track from their new upcoming album The Ride Majestic. The new album is set to be released on August 28th.

Riverside detail sixth album 0 replies

A few months ago, Polish progressive rock band Riverside had announced the upcoming release of their sixth studio album. Details from this new effort, entitled Love, Fear and the Time Machine, have recently been revealed.

Musically, frontman Mariusz Duda has described the new release as blending the band's usual 70s influences with inspiration from the 80s. "We moved forward and sort of demolished the previous foundations and built new ones," he adds.

Duda has also stated the new album is characterized by greater flow and concision, new ideas and a "huge dose of melancholy and nostalgia."

Lyrically, although it has not been specified if the record was a concept album, Duda has said the new songs' lyrics were bound by the theme of transformation. It's "about making an important, perhaps life changing, decision everyone has to make at some point in their lives.

Greek black metal legends Rotting Christ have announced the release of their first ever live album, entitled Lucifer Over Athens. The band have claimed the release will cover everything from demos to their most recent releases.

The album was recorded December 2013, and is set for release August 21st.

Zao to release new material 14 replies

Metalcore group Zao will be revealing new material after a six-year wait on July 2, 2015. It will be able to be digitally streamed and will be released on an upcoming 7" vinyl, entitled Xenophobe / Fear Itself.

The track 'Xenophobe' will be premiered on July 2, 2015 exclusively through Decibel Magazine at approximately 3pm EST.

Dan Tompkins leaves Skyharbor 27 replies

Dan Tompkins (singer for every progressive metal and djent band in the world) has mutually parted ways with the Delhi based, Skyharbor. The distance and heightened tour schedule for Skyharbor coupled with Tompkins rejoining TesseracT helped make the decision much easier for both sides and there is no bad blood between them. This will have no impact on the White Moth Black Butterfly project that consists of both Tompkins and Keshav Dhar.

The band has already brought on a new singer, Eric Emery (formerly of Concordia) to take over vocal duties. Here is Eric in a live take of the first song on Skyharbor's last album, "Evolution."

Platinum-selling rock act Shinedown have unleashed the music video to their latest single, 'Cut The Cord', which dropped early this morning.

Chris Squire passes away 59 replies

Yes bassist and founding member, Chris Squire, passed away June 28th at the age of 67. The news comes less than six weeks after receiving a diagnosis for acute erythroid leukemia.

The following statement was released on the Yes Facebook page regarding the news:

"It’s with the heaviest of hearts and unbearable sadness that we must inform you of the passing of our dear friend and Yes co-founder, Chris Squire. Chris peacefully passed away last night in Phoenix Arizona, in the arms of his loving wife Scotty.

For the entirety of Yes’ existence, Chris was the band’s linchpin and, in so many ways, the glue that held it together over all these years. Because of his phenomenal bass-playing prowess, Chris influenced countless bassists around the world, including many of today’s well-known artists. Chris was also a fantastic songwriter, having written and co-written much of Yes’ most endearing music, as well as his solo album, Fish Out ...more

Northlane debut first material from new album 35 replies

Leading up to the release of their highly anticipated third full-length Node, Sydney metalcore band Northlane split up the pieces to a new song entitled 'Leech' and posted them on various social networking sites for the community to find and assemble.

In less than a day, the puzzle was solved with thanks to fans and other associated acts such as Byron Bay contemporaries In Hearts Wake. Hooray for teamwork!
