Sleigh Bells sue Demi Lovato 29 replies

Songwriter Derek Miller (former Poison the Well) and singer Alexis Krauss of Sleigh Bells are apparently going through what many musicians fear. They believe solo artist Demi Lovato, singer of hits such as "Confident" and "Stone Cold", has stolen their song "Infinity Guitars" and used parts of it to create "Stars". Sleigh Bells believe so strongly their song was stolen the band has now filed a lawsuit.

An excerpt from the court documents as follows:

“Demi Lovato, and the label and team she worked with to create ‘Stars,’ did not obtain authorization from Sleigh Bells to use any part or portion of ‘Infinity Guitars,” "Indeed, they failed to even notify Sleigh Bells that they intended to exploit Sleigh Bells material to create a Demi Lovato song."

If you listen to both songs you can see the similarities, but it will ultimately be up to the courts to decide the final judgement.

Riverside's Uncertain Future 13 replies

Riverside have released a statement concerning the future of the band:

Dear Friends,

We'd like to thank you again for your friendship and support throughout this most tragic time for us and we'd like to officially announce that we have made a decision about our future.

We have decided that we are not going to do a casting for a new guitarist. Thus we have ceased to be a quartet and have become a trio. In this line-up we will prepare our new studio album. Both in the recording studio and on tour - if we get back to touring - we will be playing with session guitarists, who are our friends, whom we know and like. But the line-up of Riverside will be as shown in the picture.

Yes, we do realise that this is not going to be the same band. We know that for many of you the story of Riverside ends here, this year, and that "Eye of the Soundscape" might be the last Riverside album you'll buy. We know that some of you c ...more

Graveyard call it a day 14 replies

Swedish rockers Graveyard are officially no more.

In a brief post at their official Facebook page, Swedes attributed the break-up to insurmountable internal differences and personal struggles, which in effect, drained their will to carry the wagon further. As a result, all scheduled touring dates have been cancelled.

Be that as it may, Graveyard's statement (see below) does not completely rule out the possibility of a future reunion.

"Dark clouds above the graveyard today.

Due to the all so classic reason "differences within the band" the Graveyard is as of today officially closed. This is the unfortunate final decision we've had to make after going through a period of struggling n juggling with personal issues. Things have gone out of hand and now our energy is very low. As a direct result of this we're sorry to say that all scheduled touring is cancelled.

Graveyard have always been more about th ...more

New Cara Neir Track 18 replies

New Noise Magazine is streaming "Bound By Believers", the second track to be released from the Texan metal duo's upcoming full-length Perpetual Despair is the Human Condition, which is due to be released October 14th through Broken Limb Recordings.

The band says of the song:
“‘Bound By Believers’ is based on a harrowing story about a small ultraconservative colony in Bolivia, a story rooted in sexual repression and exploitation through religious zealotry. This is our take on one of mankind’s worst offenses. That people can take complete advantage of others through a warped scope of religion and form a false sense of vindication, going so far as to attributing the despicable acts to supernatural/paranormal events. That’s not only a physical exploitation of the victims, but it’s an exploitation of a person’s mind and their perception of the world around them. Unfortunately, the ugly truth is that there is no repose to the story because the v ...more

The Fall of Troy bassist melts down 82 replies

The Fall of Troy bassist Tim Ward had a breakdown on stage during the band's show in Minsk, Belarus. The incident presumably happened two songs into the set after vocalist/guitarist Thomas Erak came close to Tim and whispered something into his ear. The bass player then freaked out, dropped the guitar and smashed it. After some time the band returned to the stage and finished the set as a two-piece.

According to eyewitnesses, the atmosphere was were tense between Ward and Erak before the show because presumably Tim was very drunk. After the incident he spent all the set backstage occasionally throwing beer cans at Erak while he was apologizing before the crowd for what had happened. Later Ward was forcibly escorted out of the club by the bouncers.

No official statement has been made by the band as of yet. According to the show organizers, Tim Ward has already left to USA and Thomas Erak and the drummer Andrew Forsman are going to finish the tour without ...more
