Letter to David.

1David Bowie
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust...

You know, I'm never the one to show off. Nor am I the one to make incredibly overly-sentimental posts (I am truly no fun, at all, I know...). But, if anything I had to say something - just this once. David Jones was a massive influence to me, not only musically, but personally as well growing up. I discovered the man back in the summer of '10, just entering middle school. I was in awe of the way he could casually go from being Ziggy, an alien that challenged social norms - to the soul man of Young Americans, from the experimental auteur (with Brian Eno and Tony Visconti and co. at his side) of the Berlin trilogy, all the way to even industrial drum 'n bass. Not to even mention, he could act as well. The man seemed to be able to do almost anything. Yet, here we are tonight in mourning. I think I can say this for everyone when I say that this was entirely out of nowhere.
2David Bowie
Hunky Dory

However, I admire the man for not making us worry and instead keeping a positive outlook and going out blazing - typical David Bowie, isn't it? As he said - "Ain't that just like me?"
3David Bowie
Scary Monsters

As David once said in Quicksand -
"I'm not a prophet or a stone age man
Just a mortal with the potential of a superman
I'm living on."
4David Bowie

Even in his passing, David will always live on in those who knew and loved him. As I'm not exactly of drinking age yet, I can't necessarily raise a glass to David's legacy and his memory - so going through his massive discography will suffice (unfortunately missing the debut and Reality - that will be fixed very soon). Starting with his swansong, the greatest farewell he could possibly give. He couldn't give everything away, but he gave something beautiful here with Blackstar.
Rest in Peace, David. God bless you. And thanks for everything.
