Ahh yes, jumping in on the analytics of the game I see. You see puck luck, i see a team that is winning games and making the most of their 'situations'. I agree that luck is definitely involved, for any team that goes on to win championships. I also agree that hockey may see it more basketball or baseball. But this team is rolling right now. You may win a handful of games based on luck during the course of a full season. You don't continuously play at a high level due to it though. Keep in mind, they had subpar start to the season as well. |

puck luck is one thing but then there's also the impact of goaltending which is not showing on these stats. the pens are getting slightly above average goaltending this year (jarry is sitting at 3.33 gsaa, desmith 2.5) and it looks like they made the right decision cutting the cord on matt murray whose numbers look absolutely brutal. murray was near the bottom last year as well
ottawa is weird in the sense that they possibly have the best amateur scouting department in the league but also probably the worst pro scouts. who the fuck actually trades for matt murray and gives up a 2nd just to sign him to a $25m fucking deal? that's absurd |

very true, and well aware of the Habs PK units on this run, but i couldn't imagine any team being ok with taking penalties like this regardless of how good the PK is, especially this late in the tournament

i mean, you could very well be right but it's absolutely meaningless to speculate on that because there simply hasn't been any games outside division this year. every division was very much its own entity and there is no way you can compare them to each other, other than these last four teams in the playoffs, where the habs in fact came out on top on a team that nearly won the presidents trophy

technically it's required. in the ladd and gostisbehere trades arizona gave "future considerations" in return which is something in theory but nothing in practice. in the strålman trade they gave up a 7th rounder. this hakkarainen guy (who btw i haven't heard of either despite being finnish) falls into the same category |
