Daylist #1
Not all playlists are meant to be heard all at once. "Daylists" are a group of songs arranged so that each individual song plays at a particular point in the day. They're not always feasible to pull off, but they're an intriguing concept nonetheless. Here's my first Daylist contribution. |
1 | Waking Up "Just Like Honey" by the Jesus and Mary Chain
Something mellow and soft to bring you into the day. |
2 | Getting Ready for Work/Breakfast "The Contenders" by the Kinks
You're a real contender, aren't you? Let this song spur you on! |
3 | Commute to Work "Roundabout" by Yes
Free-flowing, optimistic and driving...something good to focus on while carpooling or battling traffic. |
4 | At Work - AM "I'm Waiting for the Man" by the Velvet Underground
Busy and insistent - focused on its mission for the moment, just like you, hopefully. Though let's hope being a drug pusher isn't your version of a "job"! Maybe you could be waiting on your boss to meet up with you for an important meeting? |
5 | Lunch Hour "A Means to and End" by Joy Division
This song sounds like it's running out of time from the beginning. Like most lunch breaks. |
6 | At Work - PM "Fixing a Hole" by the Beatles
A little lazier (now that you've been working for a few hours), but still pertinent to what you're doing. You're going to find solutions to problems and overcome any obstacles in order to get the results you desire. |
7 | Commute Home "Nine Feet Underground" by Caravan
You'll be needing a good long jam in order to make it through rush hour! |
8 | Back at Home "Bring It on Home" by Led Zeppelin
Finally! You can kick up your feet and blast whatever music you please. What about this apropos number by the Gods of Rock? |
9 | Evening/Night on the Town "Light My Fire" by the Doors
This is the perfect soundtrack to the bright lights of a thriving downtown area at dusk. But it can also soothe the savage breast while enjoying a few quiet hours at home. |
10 | Night/Bedtime "Come in Alone" by My Bloody Valentine
Perhaps you'll enjoy an intimate encounter at this point - or simply lie in bed satisfied after a productive day. Whatever the case, this is good nocturnal music. |
11 | Sleep "Codex" by Radiohead
The perfect gateway to your dreamworld. |
