03.11.13 | The Dark Knight has its flaws too, not nearly as bad as TDKR but they still become obvious and annoying on repeated viewings even if TDK has the best villains of the series. Crymsonblaze
03.12.13 | "Spider-Man 2 and Batman Begins are my two favorites, I actually really didn't like X Men United at all"
The first two X-Men are a pretty distant 5th and 6th for me. Aside from the three Raimi Spider-Man films and Batman '89, I can't really say I like comic book movies very much. |
DarkSideOfLucca
03.12.13 | The second X-Men movie is the only one I really liked, I grew up on the comics and I guess it was just way too distant from that for me to enjoy. Agreed, most comic movies suck and Snyder is not the right choice for any movie that he actually has to direct minus Dawn, which was more cool than good. |
DarkSideOfLucca
03.12.13 | andcas- yeah, like I said before I thought it was a good movie, but they kind of cockteased me too bad when they had that awesome Halo/Gears-esque universe for like 7 minutes and then went to candy land for the remainder of the movie. |
DarkSideOfLucca
03.12.13 | Apparently the next one will have Mario, they wanted to put him in the first one but the director said there was no where for him to make a cameo where it would fit into the script naturally. I know it's never gonna happen, but I'm crossing my fingers for Crash Bandicoot |

03.12.13 | Evil Dead has gotten some negative to middling reviews too, but I'm going to it to see a movie that miraculously received an R instead of an NC-17, not something intending to recapture the oddball comedy of the original (which is impossible anyways without a time travelling Bruce Campbell) |

Um......300, Watchmen..... |
Trebor.
03.12.13 | Because that's what it was rated |
DarkSideOfLucca
03.12.13 | Wasn't a fan of 300 or Watchmen, 300 was just a bunch of slow-motion over CGI action scenes with zero plot which wasn't really my thing and Watchmen was directed poorly imo-yeah it was accurate, but the acting (minus a couple people)/music choices/etc were just wayyyy too poorly done and straightforward for the complex source material...it felt like a fake carbon copy.
And it's possible that Evil Dead won't be awesome, but I'm still hopeful for it because everything that has been released thus far about that movie looks like they're really doing it justice, which I never thought I'd say a year ago |
DarkSideOfLucca
03.12.13 | Every review I've read has pretty much agreed that it's insanely violent, gory, and uncomfortable to watch so I'm not too worried about it being too soft. Though, it would be nice to see a full body dismemberment like in the original which I don't know if they will do (those squirming disconnected body parts freaked me out as a kid) |

03.12.13 | I enjoyed both 300 and Watchmen so I have high expectations, but that's just me. |

I think the red band trailer looks okay, but it seems like it's lacking that Evil Dead element. I don't think it's going to be able to separate itself enough from standard horror fare, despite the amount of gore.
I think they were wise to not include the character of Ash if Bruce wasn't going to reprise it, but I don't see this movie having a real standout character like that. He wasn't really that prominent in the original ED though, so I guess it's alright.
I dunno, the three ED films are some of my favorite movies of all time (and I'd be hard-pressed to pick a favorite; I love all three for different reasons) and I don't think it'll measure up, but I'm certainly excited to see it either way. |
DarkSideOfLucca
03.12.13 | Yeah, I'm hoping this movie will have its own identity but who knows. Agreed, I think it's stupid that so many people were bitching about Ash not being in it...why the fuck would anyone want to replace Bruce Campbell with some younger no name dude who is starring in a horror remake? That sounds way more disrespectful then a reinterpretation, especially considering the people complaining really just want the Ash from Evil Dead II/Army. All he did in the first movie was get scared, he was more just a prop for the horror that was happening around him.
And andcas, I highly doubt that's whats going to happen, but if it does turn out to be a shitty torture porn I will...not threaten to murder someone on the internet, but I will send everyone involved with the film disapproving letters that will more than likely hurt their feelings for at least several minutes. And I will send them these letters every day so they will have to live out the rest of their lives knowing how much they upset me personally, which will obviously ruin their happiness. It's the best I got. |
