Hey sputbros... I've been having major league writer's block lately for my Hyacinth project I've spent years working on. There's really no rush for me to do anything, I know, but I was hoping to at least accomplish something of substance now that I have all this time off, but other than a techno song called' Signal' that I think is crap, I really don't know how to START writing music well anymore. So how do you guys deal with creative blocks in anything you do? I've been reading some articles about how to get out of writer's block but I'm finding it really hard to continue on anything I start without scraping it or not perfecting it in some way. It happens to a lot of people and a lot of people say it doesn't exist. Who knows maybe I'm way overthinking it, but I find that I'm liking none of my ideas anymore. When I made My Specialty, I was very heavily influenced by Brian Eno, Alio Die and Jon Hassell as well as putting my own spin on it. But now I don't know which direction I should take or what I even really want to go forward with. I want to be as creative as I can but always seem to back out at the last minute. What do you guys think? Here are some recs that inspired my songwriting... besides #20. Who knows... maybe I could collab with somebody =]
