MillionDead
11.04.20 | Emptiness - Nothing but the Whole |
Egarran
11.04.20 | Never seen an angular tag before
Thy Darkened Shade[2] |
EphemeralEternity
11.04.20 | it's not that distinct but it's basically referring to the dissonant yet clean black metal that deathspell omega popularised and exploded around 2012-2016 with the icelandic scene |
Funeralopolis
11.04.20 | @MillionDead: thanks for the rec I just finished listening to the whole thing through once (Emptiness). Need more spins to understand but its pretty cool. The drumming on it is nice but I think it's kind of too slow consistently. |
MillionDead
11.04.20 | It's a weird record. Blackened death but also rife with more reserved atmospheric and gothic influences. But I'm just trying to throw shit out that everyone hasn't lol. And if you're down to check out some blackened punk, try out Just Fuck Off by Malveillance. It's pretty much 40 mins of the same style of song, but somehow it just doesn't get old to me lmao |
Deathconscious
11.04.20 | Carpe Noctem - In Terra Profugus
Imperial Triumphant - Vile Luxury
Ion - Ion
Bestia Arcana - Holokauston |
Egarran
11.04.20 | Geist - Galeere (Epic German nautical/atmospherical progressive black with the odd groovy monster riff) |
Funeralopolis
11.05.20 | @egarran: thanks for the recs. Just spent some time listening to Thy Darkened Shrine. Damn, the DsO influence is real lol. Actually really nice to see that. Honestly it felt kind of medicore, like just a bad copy on DsO but it was interesting.
It led to me looking up Azazel and spending way too long on wikipedia reading about the history of Jews and Azazel. I love biblical history lol. |
Funeralopolis
11.05.20 | Listening to dead as dreams right now, rules hard. |
Funeralopolis
11.05.20 | Flesh Cathedral is REAL GOOD. |
Egarran
11.05.20 | >Honestly it felt kind of medicore, like just a bad copy on DsO
This is monstrously wrong. At least to my ears. I adore Liber Lucifer, can't get into DSO and don't really hear much similarity.
What DSO does it remind you of, then I'll try again again. |
EphemeralEternity
11.05.20 | If you want DSO clones check out
Dodecahedron - Kwintessens
Merrimack - The Acausal Mass
Aversio Humanitatis - Longing for the Untold
Lepra - Whom Aeons Tore Apart
Martröð - Transmutation of Wounds
Schammasch - Triangle
Ascension - Consolamentum
Plebeian Grandstand - false highs true lows
Ulsect - Ulsect
Ad Nauseam - Nihil quam vacuitas ordinatum est
Sunless - Urraca |
Deathconscious
11.05.20 | Ad Nauseam and Sunless are too death metal to be DSO clones, if anything theyre Ulcerate clones. Same with Ulsect i think but i hardly remember that album. |
EphemeralEternity
11.06.20 | I think they cut from the same cloth though; angular riffs and constant tempo changes with some atmospheric elements
Well I mean none of those bands are complete clones but they're similar |
