03.05.14 | As you can see, I'm a major Ibanez whore. |

03.05.14 | Cool, I just bought a silver 2000 Ibanez RG570 a few weeks ago. Put a blue/pink Evo 2 in the bridge plus a pink Evo single coil in the middle and a blue/pink Evo in the neck. Also went with a neon pink Dimarzio strap :P |
fr33convict
03.05.14 | So I get the impression you like Ibanez. I approve. |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | ^ oh fuck yes bloc
I just need a 4 string Lakland and a trem-equipped, 6 string with a maple board and I'll be set |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | ninja'd
but yeah I love Ibanez, I'm not nearly as comfortable on most other guitars |
climactic
03.05.14 | cool list, but ill never understand why one would need more than 1 or 2 [electric] guitars unless they're a professional touring/recording musician |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | ^ because I'm a gear whore
|
KjSwantko
03.05.14 | Cool stuff Chucky. |
Greyvy
03.05.14 | clim its called a passion |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | ^ heheh yes |
fr33convict
03.05.14 | plus, variety in tone. or at least that's why i tell myself i need them. |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | yeah, I just want extra guitars for extra tunings |
bloc
03.05.14 | Haha, I don't get the whole multiple guitar thing either but whatever :P
And I hate to say it, but I'm gonna get Axe Fx soon... |
climactic
03.05.14 | yeah, i guess i just dont get it, i tend to just think practically. i mean i'm a guitarist and record a lot of different stuff and even play shows sometimes but i've never had any reason to have more than 1 guitar (although i do need an upgrade soon, fuck epiphone lol) |
DominionMM1
03.05.14 | sweet. i'm not a huge fan of ibanez but right on. |
fr33convict
03.05.14 | Axe Fx are cool doe. The feel is weird to me but they're close enough (key words being close enough) to the real thing for it not to piss me off seeing them all over anymore. |
bloc
03.05.14 | I got an Ibanez with a 5-way switch and a Tele with a 4-way switch.
ALL BASES COVERED. |
fr33convict
03.05.14 | Well like in my terrible band we start our set out in D standard and work our way down through drop C, an open tuning, and then drop B. That's not gonna stay in tune on one 6, plus you can get more optimal string tension and tone by prioritizing certain guitars to different things. |
Inveigh
03.05.14 | I got an ibanez s420 (burnt orange) in 2001. still have it, but I prefer my ESP Horizon 307 (7 string). Charcoal muthafuckas |
bloc
03.05.14 | I remember swearing to myself that I'd stick with real amps, that's why haha.
But an Axe into an Atomic power amp? It'll satisfy me for the rest of my life. |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | noice Inveigh. I had a ESP LTD MH-417 once upon a time, sweet ass guitar. |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | and yes Bloc I'm really leaning towards an AxeFx these days
I've been on a hunt for a good tube amp that I can also use at home, but a great high gain tone =/= small amp. |
fr33convict
03.05.14 | Fun fact for the more budget-minded and volume concerned, the new Vox Night Trains get fantastic heavy tones. |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | interesting |
lyzakthellama
03.05.14 | Vox's quality in amps dropped when they stopped making them exclusively in America. Nothing beats a nice fender tube or an orange stack |
DominionMM1
03.05.14 | I prefer mesa myself |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | lol lyzak, sorry but no |
lyzakthellama
03.05.14 | That's respectable, I like mesa as well |
lyzakthellama
03.05.14 | About what? |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | cause you can't do metal with an orange or fender |
lyzakthellama
03.05.14 | You can do metal with an orange |
chemicalmarriage
03.05.14 | u can def do metal with orange |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | yeah, with lots of effects and an OD and even then it's not modern metal |
Athom
03.05.14 | Nice collection you got there. I love Ibanez' tonally but those wizard necks make my hands cramp so bad. I have a Gibson
Les Paul with the big beafy 50's profile baseball bat neck.
Also you can do modern metal with an orange TH100. That one is is completely modern in how it's tone is shaped. If you get
an ad series or a thunderverb you can still do it with just an eq pedal to cut the mids and round out the high and since it has
plenty of gain, just it's vintage voiced. |
ChuckyTruant
03.05.14 | yeah I tend to like very modern, very aggressive amps, I do like Orange's a lot, they have a great feel to them |
Athom
03.05.14 | I like Orange amps because they're super responsive to how you play. I'm more of a fan of really thick mid and bass heavy tones with a darker voice so they're one of the few brands I swoon over, but I get most of my tone from pedals which makes me content with my Egnater. |
bloc
03.06.14 | Dude you can totally do metal with an Orange. But on tone, my favourite tone is that chimey AC30 kind of thing where when you play light it's clean but strum hard and it breaks up nastily. |
ChuckyTruant
04.18.14 | Just updating to say that I didn't end up with the Schecter JL-7, instead I found a 1991 Ibanez 540S7, a very rare guitar.
Oh and I also got a Laney Ironheart amp. Stoked |
