07.31.13 | Calc what do you tune to? |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | And very nice Zippa. I'm not a huge fan of Schecter guitars, but their basses are fantastic. |
ZippaThaRippa
07.31.13 | To the key of pussy |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | Hahah |
ZippaThaRippa
07.31.13 | Yeah dude, I put some flatwound strings on it. The action is higher than you'd expect. Definitely a lot higher than most basses I've played but it plays like a dream. Also, the quilted maple and the fret inlays are damn beautiful. Can't believe it was only 400 |
Calc
07.31.13 | Sexy Baritone. [2]
and what Zippa said, i'm told its frequency causes intense vibrations. |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | Hahah damn nice Calc. Too bad you're married lol |
thumbcrusher
07.31.13 | why do you tune the B and high E up a semitone chuck? is it some jazz thing i have never encountered? |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | All fourths |
ZippaThaRippa
07.31.13 | Makes sense. Easier to riff that way. |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | Easy to move triads and other smaller chords around that way. Makes more sense for chromaticism too |

ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | Justin you should give all fourths a try |
thumbcrusher
07.31.13 | the only time i've moved things around like that to try to make it easier was going into open c but felt more limited that way after a while
i've gone back to the safety of drop d |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | Yeah using all fourths is hard for chordal stuff at first but once you figure out some alternate fingerings it is 10x better |
JustinKing
07.31.13 | Never tried that. I probably should soon. I need to branch out with my tunings. |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | It's also awesome for fusion. Check out Tom Quayle. Excellent fusion player who uses all fourths |
Amphoteric
07.31.13 | 1) Godin LG

07.31.13 | I need to get back on my lead work. I'm the only guitarist of my band, so I always work the rhythm first. I've had so many various groundworks in my head that I've been unusually focused on complicating the rhythm parts to new songs that I hardly have any leads for them. Though I do usually write those last. |
ZippaThaRippa
07.31.13 | At least your honest haha |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | Yeah I have trouble writing leads sometimes. Rhythm work and riffing comes much more naturally to me |
JustinKing
07.31.13 | That's how I am. I have the ability to write a solo, but I always hate it with a passion. I like atmosphere or feel, not wank upon wank upon circlejerk. |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | Yeah. All the solos I have are derived of technical exercises. And they are very short |
MuhNamesTyler
07.31.13 | 1. Ibanez Sz720/ Takemine EF341sc
2. drop C(mostly)/ drop D/ standard
3. Anything really. I just like playing and putting together riffs and songs. My phone has approximately 2 million recordings |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | Sweet. Yeah I have a lot of phone recording too haha |
Cygnatti
07.31.13 | get any album with a super loud bass and I will lurve it. |
JustinKing
07.31.13 | Also, since I do the clean vocals for my band, I usually just play the rhythm most of the time at shows until I get a better setup with some kind of looping system. I'm hoping to start buying some pedals soon. |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | Have you thought about a modeler instead of a traditional amp and cab setup Justin? |
JustinKing
07.31.13 | All I have right now is a Marshall MG4. Honestly, I'm pretty damn broke most of the time. So all I can do for a while is just build on the setup I have now. |
Feather
07.31.13 | Ibanez rg350dx

Just started back up with a new amp off craig's list :) |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | If I were you I'd save for a line 6 pod HD500, and get like a 12" PA monitor
That's what I use and it rules hard |
Feather
07.31.13 | I got a line 6 spider 3 for real cheap on Craigs list. Does the job for me right now. also I didn't realize it was Chucky who made the list. Sup. |
JustinKing
07.31.13 | That's exactly what I was looking at getting in the future, actually. |
ChuckyTruant
07.31.13 | Awesome. You can get way better sounds out of that setup than an amp worth the same amount of money |

07.31.13 | Chucky, how's the pod working for you? I'm kinda torn between getting an interface like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 with Amplitube/Guitar Rig on PC vs getting something like what you have (although it would be a more affordable pod.) This setup would be just for recording home, mind you. |
SitarHero

08.01.13 | Fender American Special Telecaster 3TB with Parchment pickguard (I love the classic Tele look). It's got a custom electronics harness and CS Nocaster '51 pickups.
My guitar spends the majority of its time in standard tuning, since I like the brightness and spank you can get, but I'm not gonna like tuning down 1 and 2 steps is always fun and makes for some sweet bending intervals.
I play mostly blues but with a lot of rock and jazz undertones. |

rockandmetaljunkie
08.11.13 | 1) I own two guitars: a black Fender Squier Stratocaster with a Seymour Duncan humbucker pickup and a black Gibson SG standard.
2) When playing the Squier, I prefer the standard tuning, but with the SG, I use baritone strings for ultra low tunings (the highest tuning I apply on my SG is the D tuning).
3) I use the Squier for various styles, mainly Rock and Blues and the SG for Metal and Doom Metal.
