Rage Of The Month: August 2011

The best Metal albums that came out in August 2011.
5Leprous
Bilateral

The production of this album has a glorious vintage sound with beautiful
mixing and astonishing clarity. It does not match the quality of bands like
Opeth, Cynic or Dream Theater, but it does have a lot of replay value. /

4Ghost Brigade
Until Fear No Longer Defines Us

I usually enjoy depressive albums like this one. There is a lot going on
between all the different stylistic elements and I'm sure I'll need a few more
listens before I can become familiar with it and appreciate it all. / Rating:
3.5
3Revocation
Chaos Of Forms

Not only does Revocation attempt to go in too many different directions, but
they also keep stealing far too many riffs from other bands. However, I
have to admit that this time they actually made an impressive album. I just
can't rate it any higher than this because I feel like I've heard all of this
before. / Rating: 3.5
2Corrupted
Garten Der Unbewusstheit

Gekkou No Daichi is one of the best Metal songs that came out this year,
period. The first two songs aren't as good as they may seem but the
simplistic array of notes that is presented gives a much more sentimental
depth to the record. Many times the listener will feel exactly what the album
cover art illustrates, hope getting swallowed by despair, as the sun hides
among the dark clouds while a massive storm is slowly coming. / Rating: 3.5
1Fleshgod Apocalypse
Agony

This is Orchestral Death Metal done right, it's very melodic and the first five
songs are just pure fun. Fans of the band will find some improvements and
some great songwriting that is similar to Oracles even if it is substantively
different sometimes. Obviously, this could have been even better if there
was more variation. / Rating: 3.5
