Of course it was anti-Soviet as balls. Fittingly the gig took place during a football match right after the Olympics had ended. Punk as it should be - got out there, made their statements, disrupted an authoritarian society (the authorities were super fucking worried because people started burning soviet flags (understandable) and threw carrots and cabbages at people (wat?)) and never compromised.

Individuation (Telos) - Idk about medieval and this feels a lot more like sludge/prog than post to me, but it does riff respectably hard. Oh I guess it went post. The riffs were better but 7:20 also riffs. Good shit. 3.6 8. Efimera - Aww yay, lovely song! Vocals are a bit laboured for my liking but this doesn't detract too much. Postive vibrations! 3.9 9. On A Night Like This - Lana del Rey's weekends are the first 2 minutes of this video on loop. Song is okay, makes me v nostalgic even though I've never heard it before. It was a long time ago but not so long ago. Hmm. 3.3 10. Fingerprint Mark - Haven't revisited this album way too long, but this song slaps and is definitely my preferred mode of Envy (although it integrates their post-rock shiz p impressively for largely a straight-up skramz track). 4.0 11. I Know, You Know, I Know - I can't tell if this is mildly cool or deeply uncool but the song is mid ig. 2.5 12. Sardine - Exquisite. More of this. 4.3 13. Pilgrimage - fuck, this takes me back to the two weeks of pure sputstress that followed the album dropping. Good times, lovely track. Album is more about the backend for me but this defs gets the ball rolling. 3.9 14. Lightning Song - Anathema used to be my favourite band and I got into them just before Weather Systems dropped. Even back then, it was a highlights-only deal for me, and I'm still not sold on the corny crescendocore that makes up its middle run. This is the best of those songs but hmmmmmmmm still lower tier Anathema for me 3.2

I don't mind this, but it's kinda boring. 3/5 "I'm With You" Those two ladies on the left on the album cover are the same person. This is pretty typical 80s new wave. Belinda's got a nice voice, so I wish this grabbed me more, but it's no "Vacation" and it's certainly not all I ever wanted. 2.9/5 "Olympiakos Ymnos" This is iconic. Good job composing this Spiros. Kinda tiresome around the 3-minute mark though. Very marching band. 3.5/5 "Moskow Diskow" What is this French Kraftwerk? Kinda typical of this era of synth-pop, though it's fun regardless. Also, these guys are apparently Belgian, not French. 3.4/5 "Individuation (Telos)" Metal riffs. Only a minute and a half in and I'm already ready for this 10-minute song to end. Spacious post-metal, and now some epic bone-crushing slow riffs... man it's only at the 6-minute mark? Was that a false ending 8 mins in? Ugh, why not just actually end? Finally. 2/5 "Efimera" Pretty vocals. The backing music is whatever. That guitar will not commit to being part of this song, it keeps popping its head in and immediately leaving. This was fine. 3.1/5 "On a Night Like This" A dance-pop song that was probably playing in a ton of clubs when it first came out. A lot of club drugs were done while this song was playing, it's definitely that kinda o vibe. I think I'd need to be at a club to appreciate this though. 3/5 "Fingerprint Mark" No. The floaty part is less no than the rest of this, but I still don't like it much. Back to no. 1.2/5

I don't really like the beats, not in the context of this track anyway, they maybe feel a little too harsh for me? Track feels somewhat uneventful too. There's a nice atmophere but it never really feels like it's getting anywhere and the track was just plodding along for 11 minutes. 2.5 22. Fancy Dress - it is fun. 3.2 23. The Curtain - Nice, although the calm opening was by far the most satisfying aspect for me. 3.5 24. Фотоаппарат - hmm love this. calm and really nice bass. 4.0

The fact that no place in China was mentioned in the lyrics leads me to believe that Rush thinks that motif is representative of Thailand. This might be worse than their typical robotic rock. 2/5 "Boku wa Saishuu Heiki" She's rapping over electronic distortion, how novel. I like the bleep bloops.
