A Very Omni 2011

I kind of wanted to go ahead and get this out of the way before they really start rolling in. I rarely make lists that are ranked but this is for the 2011 best of so here they are. I have no doubt I may get shit for a couple of these (particularly my number 1) but ah well fuck it... and fuck you. As always have a great day sput-buds.
1Lemuria
Pebble

I do not think this is the best album of 2011 but it is my favorite. It came
out all the way back in January and I've been listening to it ever since. It's
perfect for an older dude like me as it really took a culmination of the 90's
alt rock sound and fucking ran with it. This has definitely made it into my
permanent rotation and is even currently shelved due to me listening to it
too much already.
2Swarms
Old Raves End

This was out of left field for me. Dev's review really got me jazzed to hear it
and I was not disappointed. Complex yet chill just a stunning piece of work
imo.
3Laura Stevenson & the Cans
Sit Resist

Brandon gets all the credit for bringing this one to my (and many others)
attention. What a nice lite and playful album. I liked it from the moment I
listened to it and the feeling never wore off or went away.
4Tom Waits
Bad as Me

Not his best but a great fucking album. After on play through I knew this
was a keeper. I even forced a few people to stop assuming it was "yet
another Waits album" and give it a listen and I don't think even one of
them regretted taking the time to do so. (right B.?)
5James Blake
James Blake

I loved this album from the first play but some of the shine did ware off
after a couple of months. Had this just come out it would have been my
number one.
6Frank Turner
England Keep My Bones

Yet another solid album from this dynamic musician. I don't think I need to
go on about him here on sputnik.
7Bjork
Biophilia

I can not believe she is still going this strong. Others I liked as much as her
back in the 90's have fallen to the wayside long ago but she's still putting
out tremendously powerful work. Just amazing really!
8Submotion orchestra
Finest Hour

This was another surprise for me. I think I have Maniac to thank for this one
too.
9Manchester Orchestra
Simple Math

no reason to linger hear really, it's a great album and there is no surprise
about that. I can't imagine for even a moment that his will be the first or
last 2011 list you see this on.
10 Chelsea Wolfe
??????????

I'm sure you all know that Balls gets all the credit for this great album.
Check out his review if you haven't.
11Crosses
EP

Best EP I heard from 2011.
12James Blake
Enough Thunder

A slight evolution from his S/T album.
13JK1 The Supernova
1st Come 1st Served Vol. 1

And Brandon gets credit for introducing me to yet a third entry on my list for
the year. It is decent rap from someone you've never heard of. At times his
flow reminds me a lot of MF DOOM but more accessible.
