Omni-2012-panzer 58%

so everyone else has a 2012 list up and i'm super easily influenced so obviously the only appropriate thing for me to do is make a 2012 list of my own. So without further ado here is my 58% of the way through 2012 list which I completely admit is horribly anemic. Feel free to shoot me some recs. BM and DM will be looked down on and dismissed out of hand of course.
1Alabama Shakes
Boys & Girls

I've been trying to push this album since it cam out and I still am. awesome
modern interpretation of late sixties/early seventies rock. It takes
something special to grab attention with this music style these days and
Alabama Shakes has it in spades imho.
2Fiona Apple
The Idler Wheel...

I was expecting another "Tidal" to be honest and I could not have been
more wrong. I'm having a bit of a love affair with this album right now. aoty
for me at this point.
3BADBADNOTGOOD
BBNG2

Great fucking album, solid 4. I love that my itunes has the genre for this
listed as ¯\_(?)_/¯
4Buckethead
Electric Sea

It's exactly what you'd expect and there is nothing wrong with that.
5Burial
Kindred

as pedestrian as you can get... I have no idea why this is so popular right
now. 3/5
6Counting Crows
Underwater Sunshine

I fucking love CC but it's time to hang it up boys... although if it keeps them touring which is where they really shine I guess I can't hate it entirely.
2.5/5
7The Flaming Lips
The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends

I 4'd it when it came out but it's gone off me in a big way. I'd probably 3.5 it
at this point but I'd need to be bothered to listen to it again to be sure so
I'll leave it at a 4 for the moment.
8Fun.
Some Nights

I never really got into this for some reason... I think I'll just stick to Aim and
Ignite really.
9Gotye
Making Mirrors

I was bummed when "somebody that i used to know" blew up because I
knew it would be played into the fucking dirt and I was right. As of two
months ago you couldn't watch a show or walk through a store without
hearing it. I can't even remember if I like the album at this point... just go
listen to "Mixed Blood" instead.
10Jack White
Blunderbuss

great continuation from White Stripes. There are so many nods to blues
greats on this album I couldn't even begin to list them all. Like him or hate
him I'm glad he's in the music industry right now.
11Matisyahu
Spark Seeker

Excellent continuation of his discog. If you like him you will like this. 4/5
12Nina Kraviz
Nina Kraviz

Excelent... makes me wanna fuck.
13Norah Jones
Little Broken Hearts

let down, total snooze fest. I was expecting better and haven't been able
to work up to a second listen.
14Regina Spektor
What We Saw From The Cheap Seats

Bit of a let down but it is still a really good album. I'm sure I will be listening
to this more this year.
15The Shins
Port Of Morrow

Their worst album... which is still pretty damned good 3.5/5
16Silversun Pickups
Neck Of The Woods

Excellent album full of all the goodness you have come to expect from such
a great band. If you like anything they've done you'll like this.
17The Smashing Pumpkins
Oceania

Horribly front loaded but the first half is pretty damned good. 3.5/5
18Tenacious D
Rize of the Fenix

This is nowhere near as good as their s/t and the fact that it is carrying a .1
lead over it (3.9 to 3.8) completely blows my mind. It is however really good
and miles better than PoD which curiously carries an absurd 3.7. 4/5
19Van Halen
A Different Kind Of Truth

Surprisingly good, the album has some face melting riffs I didn't think Eddie
was even capable of any more... I should have known better. There are a
few filler tracks but the good ones more than make up for them. 3.5/5 no
filler and it would have been a 4.
20Stumbleine
Drifting Youth

Slow and low that is the tempo. Not sure how I even got this, I assume it
was a rec but it's quite nice.
