EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | It's a lot of newer, more modern hxc, but still very good. |
ABR157
08.12.10 | Hell Within is pretty good... Good local group of guys from Lowell. More Metallic Hardcore though |
SeaAnemone
08.12.10 | I know you're new, so just a word of advice- some people might get annoyed if you make more than one list per day, because it knocks others off the front page...
other than that, welcome! |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | I saw hell within in Providence about a year ago. Very good live show, but have yet to check out anything from them. |
ABR157
08.12.10 | Just came out with a new album this year actually... Really, really good |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Thanks SeaAnemone. I wasn't aware of that, so I'll cool off on the lists. I'm working on a review for Cayoneer for No Trigger. Is it improper etiquette for me to make a list and a review on the same day? |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | I'll check that out, ABR. Thanks! |
SlightlyEpic
08.12.10 | a list and review on the same day is 100% fine dude
as for hardcore bands, I never know where any of them are from so I can't really put them into areas or anything, The Carrier are my favourite from this list though |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Thanks again SlightlyEpic. I basically know where all of these bands are from because of my location. Otherwise, outside of Rhode Island and Mass, I don't know where any hardcore bands are from. The Carrier are amazing, totally underrated. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | new york does suck. i've only been upstate, but I'd rather be in New England lmao. But nadda dude, just seeing how I fit in on this site. |
accompliceofmydeath
08.12.10 | Great list. Anyone who likes hardcore is alright in my book. Welcome to the site. |
NeutralThunder12
08.12.10 | wow dude you know your hardcore. You listen to any skramz, like CTTS or Funeral Diner? |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Up near Fullton County, specifically Oppenheim |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Thanks Accomplice! Neutral, I'm not really into skramz(lmao), but CTTS is okay. I like pg. 99 the most. |
BallsToTheWall
08.12.10 | Hell With new album nice need to heart that. Needs moar Death Before Dishonor though. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | I've never really liked Death Before Dishonor. They put on a great live show, but they're albums are just okay. |
accompliceofmydeath
08.12.10 | ^Agreed.
I just saw Band on your list. I'm going to see them next week with Trapped Under Ice, Cruel Hand and Alpha & Omega. It should be sick. |
LaVidaLoca
08.12.10 | Ricky does not approve of this list. Ricky thinks Bane and Gang Green are terrible. Ricky thinks this list is as gay as he is. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Accomplice, I saw Bane a while back, and it was either the best or one of the best shows I've ever been to. |
accompliceofmydeath
08.12.10 | I've seen 'em a few times. I saw them on the 10 for $10 tour most recently and they cut their set short because some kids got into a fight. They're great live though. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | lmao, when I saw them on 10 for $10, PTW had to cut their set short because a small riot broke out. |
accompliceofmydeath
08.12.10 | Damn kids. I just saw the Ghost Inside about a week ago and the venue got shut down because some kid threw a chair at a restaurant across the street. Luckily it got moved to a house and it ended up being one of the most unique shows I've ever been to. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | That's pretty cool, man. I saw Blood for Blood and The Carrier in the basement of a frathouse in Providence. Those basement/house shows are always the best. |
accompliceofmydeath
08.12.10 | It's a lot more inclusive atmosphere, it's great. As far as I know, they don't happen too often out here (Twin Cities area). |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | It happens a lot in the NE area. I believe that's so because of the influx of hardcore bands from the area, though. |
accompliceofmydeath
08.12.10 | Not so much here. Just a bunch of metal/metalcore bands. I tend to see the same 30 kids or so at hardcore shows. I've always heard about out east being a lot more thriving. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | When I was in my early 20's, it wasn't as big as it used to be. Now as I move closer to 30, it's exploding again, and the talent these bands have outweighs anything the first wave had. It's really amazing. |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | No Give up The Ghost/AN? Nocare. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Give Up the Ghost is pretty good, just not up there with these acts. |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | Personally GUTG> 80% of bands here. Bane is awesome though. |
accompliceofmydeath
08.12.10 | I've never given Give Up the Ghost or American Nightmare a chance. Where is a good place to start? |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | You can't put them ahead of 1,2,3,7, and 10 because those were the founders of the Boston/Mass hardcore sound. You can't take 5, 6, or 8 out because they founded the "newer" sound in the area. You can't replace the Carrier because they are just too damn good. And 9 made a perfect hardcore record. Give Up the Ghost hasn't done anything perfect yet, but they are still pretty good. |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | Well their first record Background Music is more traditional hardcore, We're Down Til We're Underground is one of the best hardcore records of all time imo it's really good and the lyrics are amazing on both records. |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | I think We're Down is completely perfect. I wish they didn't break up since Wes is a fucking asshole. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | I wouldn't say We're Down Til We're Underground is "one of the best hardcore records of all time" by any sense of the word, but it's still a pretty solid record. Their follow up wasn't very good at all, though. |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | We're down is their follow up. Background Music was their first album. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | You're forgetting about the follow up to We're Down, and that's Year One, which sucked compared to their other material. |
accompliceofmydeath
08.12.10 | So, We're Down is the place to start then? |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | Year One is a collection of all their older material from when the band was younger. It's technically not a follow-up. |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | Yup We're Down. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Ugh, it's still not very good. |
accompliceofmydeath
08.12.10 | *gets into semantics* |
SlightlyEpic
08.12.10 | I agree with euphoric, american nightmare/give up the ghost are pretty overrated as far as I'm concerned |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Agreed, Slightly. While they are a pretty good hardcore band, they still aren't anywhere near being one of the best. |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | I don't think so one bit. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | It's just a matter of opinion, that's all. I can understand seeing them on a list like this, but just not mine. I don't see how they are any better than any of the bands on my list, especially 1-7. I can see a debate going on about the rest, but I'd be hard-pressed to say they are better than No Trigger specifically. Canyoneer is perfect. |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | Thank you for that. I think that Defeater>Bane though, but it's so hard to choose from. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | That was a debate I was having with myself when I was making this, and I think if I were to expand this 2 11 bands, I'd have them on there. |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | Is Sluts any good? Their previous project? |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | To be honest, I haven't heard them, so I don't have an opinion. I didn't even know about that! |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | It's their previous band, some people say it's better than Defeater which is BLASPHEMY. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | That's really hard to believe. |
dansxdead
08.12.10 | I know right! I wanna hear it soon. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | I'll check it out tonight when I get home. I got to get my computer set up, and that's on my list of things to do this evening. |
ConsiderPhlebas
08.12.10 | Some good stuff here. In My Eyes rarely get a mention sadly, and you can never go wrong with Bane. Give Blood is so awesome. Don't really care where bands come from, but then there's no scene in this country. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Where are you from, ConsiderPhlebas? |
ConsiderPhlebas
08.12.10 | England, man |
SlightlyEpic
08.12.10 | it's true, there isn't much of a hardcore scene in the uk |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Yikes! That sucks guys! |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | Come to Boston, I'll show ya around lmao |
ConsiderPhlebas
08.12.10 | It's a bit better since the internet's made it so easy to get foreign stuff, but a few years back it was desolate. Bands would come from America and play to empty pubs. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | That's sucks. To go over seas and spend the money to get your band there and play to an empty place? Hearing crickets? God, that's embarrassing. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.12.10 | And if you've never heard 4(The Carrier), check them out. Amazing musicianship for a hardcore band. |
