| 2014 Hardcore
10 (mostly) lesser known albums to check out | 1 | | Manners Pale Blue Light
One of Sputnik's most beloved hardcore bands with a phenomenal debut LP.
http://mannersct.bandcamp.com/album/pale-blue-light | 2 | | Direct Effect Sunburn
Raw, stripped down hardcore on Tiny Engines. Really great debut LP as well
although the lyrics leave a bit to be desired.
http://directeffecthc.bandcamp.com/album/sunburn-2 | 3 | | Matahari Shameless
One of the coolest finds of the year so far. Riff laden melodic hardcore in the vein
of Manners, Defeater, and mid-2000s bands like Ruiner. Also this bands first full
length. http://matahari.bandcamp.com/album/shameless | 4 | | Gator King Martial Law
Yet another great debut LP that strikes a good balance between straight up punk
and heavy NYHC with some trash influence. Riffs hard.
http://gatorking.bandcamp.com/album/martial-law | 5 | | IDYLLS Prayer for Terrene
Weird, noisy hardcore from Australia with a slew of metalcore and grind influences.
http://idylls.bandcamp.com/album/prayer-for-terrene | 6 | | New Lows Abhorrent Endings
One of my favorite bands going right now. Heavy EP that more or less sounds like
their LP, Harvest of the Carcass. If you didn't like that, then you probably won't
like this. http://deathwishinc.bandcamp.com/album/abhorrent-endings | 7 | | Icarus Ascending // Descending
Incredibly unique melodic hardcore from Iceland. The vox and lyrics are a big
standout here. Not to be missed.
http://icarusiceland.bandcamp.com/album/ascending-descending | 8 | | Great Reversals Natural Burial
Passionate hardcore from Michigan. Heavy and straightforward but with a lot of
melody as well. http://gr8rev.bandcamp.com/album/natural-burial | 9 | | Death Injection Don't Care
Negative and pist off straight edge punk from Boston. Fast and to the point.
http://deathinjection.bandcamp.com/album/dont-care | 10 | | Frameworks Loom
Okay so these guys are more post-hardcore than anything but their debut LP is
raw, varied, and overall an incredible follow up to Small Victories.
