how have you already read 5 books this summer? I can't even get through 100 pages of Richard Ford's 'The Sportswriter' without procrastinating
I thought Everything Matters! was pretty good. The whole thing with cancer was kind of ridiculous, but I enjoyed it a lot.
I got some recs, friend. Fever Ray and Aldous Huxley.
My comment from another book list:
Denis Johnson - Train Dreams. A smoky novella about the American Midwest.
Deborah Levy - Black Vodka. Ten gorgeous short-stories about love and loss.
Keith Ridgeway - Hawthorne and Child. A quirky and very funny detective novel, featuring lots of weird characters and plenty of gay sex.
Glenn Patterson - The International. A tense and excellent story about a hotel, set during the beginning of The Troubles in Northern Ireland.
I hope you'll check out one or two of those. These book lists tend to regurgitate the same canonical texts, but sometimes its good to go off the beaten path.

I'm definitely gonna check out The Fifty Year Sword. I just finished reading The Shining and the Road. The Shining was incredible, but the Road was a disappointment for me. Currently reading A Song of Ice and Fire and American Gods.
