Black Metal That Deserves More Attention
Just a list of some cool black metal bands that haven't received much attention around here. Figured i'd post this list to spread the blackened word M/ |
1 | | Autarcie Horizons Funestes
Do you like Peste Noire? Then you couldn't do wrong with checking these guys out then. |
2 | | Dolentia Sob a Égide das Sombras
Great band from Portugal who play a combination of atmospheric and more traditional black metal with themes of celebrating the dead and the occult. |
3 | | Dressed In Streams The Search For Blood
Really good atmospheric black metal from the US with synth work in some of their material that invokes the feeling of old Burzum. |
4 | | El-Ahrairah The Blessing
Another interesting atmospheric bm project out of the US. |
5 | | Endlichkeit Endlichkeit I-II
Good hazy atmospheric/ambient bm |
6 | | Forgotten Spell / Nosvrolok Galaxis Necro / The Black Awakening
Amazing split release between Germany's Forgotten Spell who weigh in with a sole 23 minute raw, blazing black metal masterclass that deserves to be listened to by anyone who calls themselves a fan of the genre. 2 tracks on side b presented by Nosvrolok who go a long way to prove why people believe them to be one of the most criminally underrated bands in the US black metal underground. For anyone claiming that black metal in the modern day is dead, i urge you to check out this split release. Essential stuff and as black as the depths of a closed tomb. |
7 | | Fullmoon United Aryan Evil (Demo)
Not exactly unknown, but could do with more attention. This is basically one of the main foundations of NSBM, regardless of politics or racial views the music on here creates and amazing atmosphere with a great feeling of pride and triumph. |
8 | | Marblebog Nostalgic Moods
Pretty interesting ambient bm from hungary that stays pretty much at mid pace, providing a hypnotic atmosphere. |
9 | | Montsegur Under The Banner Of Witchcraft
A cross between early Peste Noire and Vlad Tepes, great demo from earlier this year that reeks of the bands ancestral herritage with some great lead guitar work. |
10 | | Odal ...Wilde Kraft
A band that has really taken hold of me over the last couple of years with this being probably their best work. Epic and triumphant pagan bm from Germany. |
11 | | Spectre Abyss
Great atmospheric bm from England, you can practically feel the rain dripping off the trees in the forest as the rain pours down on an autumn evening. |
12 | | White Medal Alone As Owt
Awesome punkish black metal from England that has the black metal sound and feel while throwing in punkish riffs and snarl. |
13 | | Whorelord Whorelord
A one demo wonder here, the entire thing is up on youtube and is a caustic combination of bm, thrash and grind. 11 minutes of chaos with awesome riffs to boot, well worth a look. |
14 | | Witchclan Misanthropist
The UK's oldest black metal band (formed in 1991) whose debut full length was only released in 2011 after the band had lay dormant for a large number of years. Traditional black metal |
15 | | Witching Hour Past Midnight
Blackened thrash with a few NWOBHM styled touches that doesn't take itself too seriously. This is just a group of guys turning the amps up slamming beers and having a laugh. Pretty good and alot of fun |
16 | | Xothist Xothist
Great fusion of bm/dark ambient, harrowing, unsettling and also..... fucking awesome |
17 | | Durazis Prayer Rehearsal
One of my favorites that i have picked up in the last couple of years, at first this was just a great raw bm demo. Now for me it has taken on a life of its own and grown for me more than i ever thought it would. Essential if you like your raw bm |
