Sleep Is The Cousin Of Death

ive been listening to hiphop a very long time now so i figured id make a top list cause rranking things is fun
1Nas
Illmatic

cant be topped, almost all classic tracks, plus one love is the best hiphop track of all time. and those beats. premier and pete rock for life.
2Mobb Deep
Hell on Earth

Havok might be my favorite producer. his shit is so grimy and minimal but banging at the same time. plus prodigy and havok are the best storytellers in hiphop. i like this more than infamous.
3Dr. Octagon
Dr. Octagonecologyst

Kool Keith is the fuckin man and is the coolest MC ever, and this album is out of this world. now my helmets on you cant tell me im not in space.
4Madvillain
Madvillainy

This was the album that got me into hiphop way way back in the day. i was listening to DOOM long before the internet told me he was awesome and this shit just kills from front to back. REMEMBER ALL CAPS WHEN YOU SPELL THE MAN NAME.
5GZA
Liquid Swords

best flow in the same, RZA at the top of his game. one of the best in the game for sure. almost unbeatable if were talkin objective shit. 36 chambers rules but this is the definitive Wu imo.Heltah Skeltah
6Big L
Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous

RIP big l, you were and still are the biggest loss to hip hop. stay off them corners, that might your best plan, before you catch a bullet that was meant for the next man :'(
7A Tribe Called Quest
Midnight Marauders

this is my favorite ATCQ album. both phife and q-tip are on point, the beats are some of their best, and the stories are are as great as ever.
8Gang Starr
Hard to Earn

premier is still a god. guru is underrated and his style and flow are the perfect for this tight as fuck premier beats. no we dont make whack tracks.
9The Pharcyde
Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde

i dont really dig west coast but this honestly sounds like little new york in the LA to me. dope ass beats, killer flows. my fav west coast album for sure.
10KMD
Bl-ck B-st-rds

doom was great before he was great. shelved for years and finally released in 2001, this is a pure classic that doesnt get enough love.
11Eric B and Rakim
Follow the Leader

maybe the most important hiphop duo ever, both of these guys pioneered the kind of hiphop that would champion the genre as a triumph of african american culture. this deserves to be considered one of the greatest albums of all time.
12Lord Finesse
The Awakening

lord finesse is so underrated. albums not a huge classic but i love finesse too much.
13Lil Ugly Mane
Mista Thug Isolation

im still conflicted about this. on one hand, this kind of white people appropriating thug culture is kind of like modern blackface and i have a problem with it, but fuck me this album is so good and the beats kick ass. there is no way this is parody even if it kind of functions as parody anyways because the shit is so good. its definitely made with respect, regardless of the problems of white appropriating black culture.
14Jeru the Damaja
Wrath of the Math

the sun rises in the east has killer tracks, but this is more consistent and still has those fresh primo beats. plus jeru can spit.
15Organized Konfusion
Stress: The Extinction Agenda

Pharoahe Monch and Prince Po had some of the best flows in the business and this album is one of the best of the jazz rap/alt rap stuff.
16Ultramagnetic MCs
Critical Beatdown

kool keith at it again. i dont listen to enough golden age but this album kills.
17Three 6 Mafia
Mystic Stylez

evil shit 666
18Lords of the Underground
Here Come the Lords

one of the best to come out of NY. jazz beats and killer flows. thats ill i need in life to make me happy.
19Camp Lo
Uptown Saturday Night

the beats and the flows again. old school and new school come together. luchini is one of my all time favorite beats.
20 Smif-N-Wessun
Dah Shinin'

not the best of the best but i fuck with bucktown all the time so i gotta put it on here.
21Black Moon
Enta Da Stage

underrated as hell
22Heltah Skeltah
Nocturnal

see 21
23MF DOOM
MM.. Food

i love DOOM too much not to include him twice.
24DJ Screw
Bigtyme Recordz Vol. II: All Screwed Up

the only real southern shit i fuck with.
25Autechre
Chiastic Slide

lol fight me
