Best Shows I've Ever Been To

In order, the best shows I've ever been to. I've rated these by taking into account how well the band played, how much fun I had, the interaction the band had with the crowd, the venue size (bigger is not always better btw), the setlists, and the overall quality of said show.
1Cynic

It's really indescribable. I've never seen a show that I could call "immaculate" before.. This show was IMMACULATE. Every band member was top notch. Paul is an incredible player live and standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM helped comprehend how great his technique really is: flawless. Standing that close also helped me realize how much is really going on with Sean on the drums. Tymon and Robin are excellent additions to the band as well. Seeing them playing all of Traced in Air live, flawlessly at that, is enough to push any show to #1, but what REALLY cemented this show's position is the interaction they had with the fans after their set. Me and my friend Kit literally had like a 20 minute conversation with Paul and the gang. Unbelievable cool guys who are MORE than willing to hang out and talk to their fans and sign anything for them. Definitely the best show that comes to mind.
2Trans-Siberian Orchestra Winter tour 07

Think fire, Pink floyd light show, snow, ex members of Testament and Savatage and a string section... all tied together with Christmas music. As far as visuals and performance value, this show is TOP NOTCH. If you EVER get the chance to see them. DO IT FOOL.
3Baroness, High on Fire, Opeth

While the fans of High on Fire were... well.. what you'd expect from High on Fire fans... the show was incredibly fun. Well worth the 3 hour drive I'd say. I'd never heard of Baroness so I was really pleasantly surprised. Opeth put on an INCREDIBLE set and Akerfeldt is one hell of a comedian. The show was BRUTAL. I got absolutely violent during The Grand Conjuration and Demons of the Fall... hell and Deliverance... and Lotus Eaters
4Atheist, The Faceless, Agonist, Gnostic

Saw all these guys at Volume 11 in Raleigh about 3 1/2 hours away... TOTALLY worth it. I was completely surprised at how good The Agonist is. Gnostic was insane..completely insane. Flynn was at the top of his game as was Chris Murphy for Gnostic's set. Little did I know half of Gnostic is also in Atheist. The Faceless were BRUTAL. I had so much fun with their set..especially when i was LEANING ON THE STAGE. And of course the legendary Atheist were LOADS of fun live too. While the set itself was a little sloppy, they completely made up for it by being very interactive with the crowd (me and my friends got to take pictures and shoot videos for the band!). Got to meet the guys afterwards also, so thats also a plus.
5Progressive Nation 08 (BTBAM, Opeth, Dream Theater)

At this point I had not actually HEARD BTBAMs Colors, only their s/t and The Silent Circus. I know shocking. So hearing Ants of the Sky, White Walls and Prequel to the Sequel all at once completely threw me off. Wasnt expecting that out of the hxc band I remembered from the past. Opeth completely slayed. They were almost better (in my opinion) than Dream Theater who actually really surprised me with their set. I was expecting the Dream Theater that made Live at Budokan (oh god labrie...) But everyone was on their game with minimal mistakes from Labrie. The rest of the band was completely on their game, and to see my favorite band play the complete "A Mind Beside Itself" suite perfectly was pretty amazing... And a medley of songs at the end containing the best parts of the best songs of their catalog helped.
6Rush- Snakes and Arrows tour 08

Its Rush. They played perfect. They played their classics. They played YYZ. I was like 6 rows back from the stage. There was a Neil Peart drum solo. I was high. It was amazing.
7Mastodon/Dethklok/Converge
8Symphony X/ Into Eternity

My first real metal show. And actually being able to smoke pot with Stu Block from Into Eternity helped... besides the fact he's annoying as mess. Symphony X played AMAZING. Michael Romeo was of course shredding away with his tubby little fingers, and of course Russell Allen is a vocal powerhouse. They played all the classics.. even Masquerade, so that was a plus. Granted I'm not really into that genre anymore, but it began my involvement with the metal scene.
