10.07.09 | why do people complain about not understanding when he's saying
you have kid a on this list and half the lyrics on that album were improvised |

10.07.09 | If you don't like them, you don't like them. Just because other people like something doesn't mean you have to. |

10.07.09 | It took me awhile to understand in music, but not being able to understand the vocalist isn't a big deal, it's more about the delivery. When the Converge vocalist yells he puts so much passion into them he makes you feel the words, if that makes sense. Plus they are baby kicking delicious. |

10.07.09 | i'm listening to kid a right now and i have no idea what the fuck this dude is saying fuck this shit i'm gonna listen to some henry rollins spoken word |

10.07.09 | I can't get it, either. I can enjoy dissonant, unintelligible songs by other bands, but Converge is just one I never could get (and I've been trying for years now, ever since I got Punk-O-Rama 10...they are on Epitaph, after all...).
I think that, for now, I'll just stick with my wildly unpopular opinion that they suck.
In other news, #5 is one of my absolute favorite hip-hop records. |

10.07.09 | Their rhythms, textures, and melodic sensibilities, even in the vocals, are mesmerizing and extremely cathartic. |

10.07.09 | metaldude, thom yorke had a reason why the lyrics make no sense or aren't able to be understood. The overarching theme of the album simply extends through his words or lack there of. Obviously Radiohead had something to say, I'm just not sure that Converge have something to say. Maybe they're just really really pissed and scream a lot to release all of that anger.
And it's not that I hate metal either, for about 2 years, Opeth was my favorite band, so I've meandered around the subgenres of metal for quite some time. |

10.07.09 | Same here, although you shouldn't worry about it of course. Some things just don't appeal to you and that's fine. I've tried Converge again and again over time but they're just nothing to me. I can get why they appeal to some people but I don't even remotely understand the whole reverence thing that's going on at Sputnik. I feel bashing the band just because nearly everyone strokes penis to their music is way unnecessary, but the overly worshipping comments can be very, very lolworthy. |

10.07.09 | Looking at your ratings, I can see how you might not "get" converge.
You have to realize though, Converge isn't a metal band. They are "metallic hardcore", hardcore music that is influenced by metal. Everything about their delivery and songwriting is hardcore, so until you can "get" hardcore music, you won't be able to "get" Converge.
If you really want an experience though, see them live. |

10.07.09 | Dude, Converge is hardcore, please don't compare them with Opeth. And yes qwe, the lyrics are fantastic. |

10.07.09 | armavirum...go read their lyrics from Jane Doe. They're exceptional. |

10.07.09 | I'm not bashing anybody! I guess I should make that clear. I respect Converge and obviously they must be good if they hold such a following on this site.
I just looked at the lyrics for "Dark Horse," and they're not bad by any means, much better than what I was expecting. It's just that if they do actually have something to say, why do you have to have the lyrics right in front of you to get it, you know? Maybe I guess that's a whole part of it... I dunno, it just doesn't "click" with me I guess. To each his own. |

10.07.09 | I didn't read any other's comments but silence is right |

10.07.09 | Did not mean to suggest that you unnecessarily bash the band. Some people pull that shit off just to troll and be a bent schlong; it's mundane and gives me irritable bowel syndrome. |
Captain North
10.07.09 | I don't think I actually particularly like the lyrics for Dark Horse, but anyway, yeah - I used to be exactly like you. I liked the music, but the vocals always put me off and it actually pissed me off that I couldn't hear the lyrics when they were so good (and actually, it still kinda does) but I got used to it and I like it alot more now. |

10.07.09 | i dont get people that say they don't like music immediately. i've never really had an album "grow" on me. i know from usu the first or second listen if im going to like a band/style of music.
only forms of music i dont like are country/radioplay rap/pop music from any decade other than the 60s. but i still like a few bands that are good in each of those styles as well.

10.07.09 | Yeah I'm the exact same why Kitsch. |

10.07.09 | For me it's usually about taking time to get used to the music. Converge when I first listened to them was hard to take in. After consecutive listens it really opened up to me. I dunno why, all I know is that some music DOES take time to "grow" on me so to speak.

10.07.09 | have you ever tried playin a converge song on guitar? yes? well imagine makin shit like that up for multiple releases. a lil creative id say...
plus, regardless of whether bannons vocals are prty unintelligable, you cant say that he doesnt have one unique voice. |
MaskAtTheMasquerade
10.07.09 | don't worry about converge. those guys are loopy. |

10.07.09 | he only sings about doo-doos anyway |

10.07.09 | I never got Converge either. I can enjoy certain songs but the vocals just ruin most of it. And it's not so much that I can't understand him as that delivery sounds so monotone/detached, which is odd considering how emotional everyone says Converge is. |
