07.04.13 | I see. Anyway not the right thread to do so but anyone seen The Purge? If so, drop some thoughts
about it.
Fav movies would have to be uhm:
I Am Legend,
The Man From Nowhere (Korean Movie) ,
The Pursuit Of Happiness (really like Will Smith) ,
Zombieland ,
28 Days Later + 28 Weeks Later ,
Alone (Possibly the best K-Horror movie i've seen) ,
Orphan and
Shaun Of The Dead.
These are just a few at the top of my head really.
Anyway i like a good movie, regardless of genre. But the genres i go for the most are comedy and
horror. |

07.04.13 | yeah, Purge wasn't the best but it was a fun way to waste an hour and a half i guess

07.04.13 | The Purge was good, because once the dogtags were shown the social commentary just pulled out its cock and smacked the audience in the film for the rest of the film.
Did a lot better with the film than I thought, was happy I went to see it. |
ZilbelPing
07.04.13 | I liked it. The tension was highly prevalent throughout the first half. Once they broke in, though the pacing kinda got lost. Everything just started happening too fast. |

Hey guys i just finished watching Warm Bodies, its a comedy crossed with a romance, about a zombie
falling in love with a girl etc. I had read that it was pretty good, but i cant tell you enough on
this. It's incredible how they can make such a stupid plot work so well, i guess thats its stupidity
that makes it all the more enjoyable. It's kinda like Twilight but ya know, good. They implemented
just the right amount of comedy in there to not make it feel extremely silly in its seriousness and
oh
boy, did i enjoy that movie. Highly recommend it and this certainly is one of my favorite movies

07.05.13 | What do you mean |
ReturnToRock
07.05.13 | Well, the only way to do B&T in the present is to have them GO CORPORATE!!
Basically, I'd have them be corporate drones, and rock out in their spare time (in a band or something). But then Rufus('s son, because RIP Carlin) shows up and whisks them away on a quest, during which adult Bill & Ted rediscover their inner teenagers, etc.
Instead, I bet they're going to recast everybody (Keanu & Winter are like 50) and make it like Dumb and Dumberer and shit all over the franchise. |
MuhNamesTyler
07.05.13 | Haha not a bad plot there. They are actually recasting Keanu and Winter though and they talked about the plot a little bit in some interview, doesn't sound that bad tbh. I'm sure it won't be like the first two but hopefully it doesn't suck complete ass |

Wes Anderson I find super-pretentious-for-no-reason. Have yet to finish one of his (tried Wild Things and Fantastic Mr Fox, gave up before the end both times.) Ghost in the Shell was also a bit of a letdown, and David Lynch and I don't get along.

07.05.13 | I watched Fantastic Mr Fox and the whole time I was like "where's the story where's the story where's the story WHERE'S THE FREAKING STORY!!!" All it amounted to was a hipster version of Family Guy. No thanks. |
omnipanzer
07.05.13 | "Dune? Are you serious bro?"
Yah, it's a fanboy favorite. I used to love it when I was a kid... it was just so fucking weird and creepy.
"Wes Anderson is way overrated"
"Wes Anderson I find super-pretentious-for-no-reason."
I think he makes modern masterpieces. So much of the ambiance of his films are in the silences. All his shots are framed so beautifully and I love his dialog. I didn't LOVE Moonrise Kingdom but it was a fucking beautiful movie. I'll watch it again just for the cinematography and set designs. |
omnipanzer
07.05.13 | "All it amounted to was a hipster version of Family Guy. No thanks."
I literally have no idea what you're talking about here... |
EaglesBecomeVultures
07.05.13 | yeah but usually that "ambience" equates to palpable awkwardness which makes it unbearable for me but i guess i can see the appeal |
ReturnToRock
07.05.13 | Well the humour in Mr Fox is the Family Guy-style "LOOK GUYZ RANDOM l0l xD", but the film is pretentious as fuck. So that's what I meant. |
omnipanzer
07.05.13 | Yah i get like that with some shows/films. I tried to watch "The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret" and I couldn't get through the first episode because it was so uncomfortable. I love David Cross but I can't stand how uncomfortable the first episode gets. |

07.05.13 | ^My friend dislikes Fawlty Towers for that same reason.
I really should deduct points from her score for that. |
omnipanzer
07.05.13 | @RtR I don't get that at all. In no way did I find it to be random and I thought the plot was obvious and consistent throughout the film. Are you sure you are talking about the right movie? In comparison to what I watched you haven't accurately described even a minute of the film. Not trying to be a dick you're just kind of blowing my mind here. You're welcome to hate it but your just confusing the shit out of me with your description. |
omnipanzer
07.05.13 | "Have been meaning to watch Three Colours for ages, own them, but never saw them :$"
These were my favorite movies for a long long time. I originally had them on VHS and then had to stalk Amazon.com for years to get them on DVD. You really should get to watching them. |
ReturnToRock
07.05.13 | Well ostensibly the plot is that Bunce, Bean and whatever the other one's called want to take down Mr Fox's tree and he fights them, right?
So why the scene in the attorney's office?
Why the extended scenes of them eating or fighting? (HAHA look they act like animals! xD)
Why the whole subplot with the Scandinavian emo-jock cousin?
Why the extended scenes of characters digging and flailing their arms because "lulz"?
I kept imagining what Pixar would have done with that film...

07.06.13 | Maniac remake was very surprising, brutal stuff. Amazing soundtrack (best I've heard in years) The Conjuring was decent for a mainstream ghost movie. ZombicidalMan
07.06.13 | I'll have to be patriotic and check out American Mary... Right now I'm watching Twin Peaks on Netflix and damn, the synth coupled with the crazy killing sequences are fucking terrifying. In a great way. |
MrElmo
07.06.13 | Nice, Conjuring looks great, what are the VHS movies? |
eleventhsun
07.06.13 | Also highly recommend Maniac. If anything for the love of Synths and very grimy killing. Plus Elijah Wood is nassssty in it. |
TMobotron
07.06.13 | Twin Peaks is so fucking great, and that soundtrack is pure classic IMO. |
eleventhsun
07.06.13 | VHS are like anthology movies, a few shorts tied into one, directed by different people. The second one just released on Netflix USA but there are other ways of finding it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2105044/?ref_=sr_2 |
MrElmo
07.06.13 | Never watched twin peaks, heard it was cool. Atm I've decided to watch more Noire films after seing Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (awesome forgotten movie btw). But me and my friends are always looking for more good horror |
eleventhsun
07.06.13 | There are tonnes of good horror from the last few years. Martyrs, Inside and Frontiers were all French horror that destroyed our North American stuff. Just seems the major studios push out crap in that genre. |
MrElmo
07.06.13 | I'll start watching VHS tonight then and wait for a few mates for conjuring, thanks a lot for the recs, me and my friends were a tad dissapointed with Mama so this should compensate. |
eleventhsun
07.06.13 | I think Conjuring is in theaters. I saw a screening. It was decent, nothing to freak out about but much better then most
mainstream stuff. The others I named are much more intense. VHS has it's moments. 2nd one has my favourite segments.
Twin Peaks is classic. Best intro music ever, when it ends on those sinister minor chords ahhhh!! legendary. |
MrElmo
07.06.13 | Yeah main studios are worthless now (heard they remaked Evil Dead, what a terrible idea), Martyrs was good yeah |

07.06.13 | I thought Hugo was quite overrated. It was definitely very beautiful, well done, and well acted, but it got more praise than I personally think it deserved.
Being a huge Alien fan I was let down by Prometheus. The beginning was really well done, and it had that nice air of mystery to it, plus a great cast. Michael Fassbender was absolutely perfect as the android. But as you said, after about halfway it took a turn for the worse. Still, it was cool seeing the alien ship, so eerily similar to that of the first movies. |

07.06.13 | I just thought it could have been profound but instead turned into an action flick at the end. |
MrElmo
07.06.13 | That scene towards the end where the few guys left in the ship decided to sacrifice themselves ruined it for me, it felt forced beyond mesure |
TMobotron
07.06.13 | yeah that part was pretty cliche and it's definitely a flawed movie but the visuals, grandiosity and mystery kept me captivated as hell from start to finish. |

07.06.13 | If anything I suppose it got people interested in making new sci-fi. Which IMO has been sort of lacking lately. If it's not a corny alien invasion movie then it's dry. |

07.06.13 | Last movie ive seen was Delicatessen, good flick.. |
Blackbelt54
07.06.13 | so who's seen Despicable Me 2? cuz I thought it was fantastic |
MrElmo
07.06.13 | Lynch is pretty good but not a very consistent director imo, he seems to prefer trying many things and it doesn't always works |
EyesWideShut
07.06.13 | @Elmo, you speak the truth.. what Lynchians tend to do is make everything he touches sounds amazing when it could be shit. |
eleventhsun
07.06.13 | The thing with Lynch is that he has been able to establish a style and brand his films in a fashion that when you're watching you know it's Lynch. As a filmmaker that in itself takes a level of skill. He may not be a great storyteller but he is quite a competent visual director. |
Curse.
07.06.13 | "Last movie ive seen was Delicatessen, good flick.."
