auberginedreams 07.27.12	live electronic music is something that still feels weird to me. especially when the artist is turning random knobs and stuff pretending to perform when they're really just playing a track off of they're laptop. obviously it takes talent to make the music, but most electronic musicians kind of look like idiots on stage.

auberginedreams 07.27.12	oh man i wasn't trying to start a huge thing, i realize there's skill in dj'ing. i've just realized some people try and act like they're doing more on stage than they really are. not everybody obviously. and i'm talking about playing singles and stuff, not improvised sets like what the guy in that video appears to be doing.

auberginedreams 07.27.12	i was talking about artists reproducing songs from albums, like a rock band would. it just seems like a lot of producers pretty much play a track and then mess with some effects or something live to make it look like they're performing. i don't mean to say that everyone does this, it's just something i've noticed. clearly skrillex is guilty of this. improvised sets are obviously a different story.

auberginedreams 07.27.12	yeah that's my whole point, that's why live electronic music is a little weird to me. live rock and stuff is pretty straightforward and the appeal is obvious, but with electronic music you have to figure out ways to engage the crowd without simply reproducing your material in a live setting.
