|1||Mass of the Fermenting Dregs|
Mass of the Fermenting Dregs
Sankarea (comedy/romance/supernatural): Furuya's not interested in the living,
he's got zombies on the brain! When Furuya's cat dies, he decides he's going to try
and bring it back to life. In the process, he stumbles across a girl who is involved in
an accident and turns into a real zombie! What's Furuya going to do now that the
thing he loves the most is right in front of his eyes? 8/10
Haiyore! Nyarlko San (comedy/sci-fi): "I'm Nyarlathotep, the creeping chaos
always smiling beside you." But you can call her Nyaruko for short. One by one,
the Great Ones from the Cthulhu mythos are coming to earth to target Nyaruko and
her human friend Mahiro. He's utterly clueless about the true nature of his cosmic
conflict and just wants to live in peace. 8/10
Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? OF THE DEAD (action/comedy): Aikawa Ayumu was
revived as a zombie by the cute necromancer Eucliwood Hellscythe. After the zany,
madcap adventures in the first season of Is This a Zombie? ended, Ayumu thought
his life might finally get back to normal, or as normal as it can be for a zombie.
However, destiny has other plans for him. Some guys just can't catch a break. 8/10
Medaka Box (comedy/action/shounen): When newly elected Student Council
President Medaka Kurokami institutes her idea for a suggestion box where people
can submit problems that need to be solved, she's expecting things like rescuing
lost puppies and giving advice. What she and her best friend Zenkichi find instead,
however, are the first hints of an unbelievable secret, and their school, Hakoniwa
Academy, and Medaka herself are somehow at the very center of the growing
maelstrom! As what seemed like an innocent past time turns into a dangerous
game, Medaka and her recruits to the Student Council discover new depths to both
themselves and their own unexpected abilities. And then things get really out of
Sakamichi no Apollon (drama/romance): The beginning of summer, 1966.
Because of his father's job situation, freshman high school student Kaoru Nishimi
moves by himself from Yokosuka to Kyushu to live with relatives. Until then, Kaoru
was an honor roll student who tended to keep to himself, but meeting notorious bad
boy Sentaro Kawabuchi starts to change him. Through his devil-may-care
classmate, Kaoru learns the attractions of jazz and finds the first person he can call
a "friend". He also discovers how much fun it is to play music with a pal.
Other characters include Sentaro's kind childhood chum, Ritsuko, who is the
daughter of a record shop owner; the mysterious upperclassman, Yurika; and
Brother Jun, the much-admired leader among their peers. Set against the backdrop
of a seaside town with a scent of American culture, this series is a drama about
young people coming into their own, crossing each other's paths, and finding
friendship, love, and music! 8/10
Hyouka (mystery): Oreki Houtarou is a minimalistic high school boy. One day, he
joins the Classic Literature Club at his elder sister's request.
There he meets Chitanda Eru, Fukube Satoshi, and Ibara Mayaka. Chitanda is a
calm beautiful girl but she turns into an embodiment of curiosity once she says,
"I'm interested in it (Watashi, Kininarimasu)". Fukube is a smiling boy with a
fantastic memory who calls himself a database. Ibara is a short girl and is strict
with others and herself. She loves Fukube, but he always dodges her approaches.
They begin to investigate a case that occurred 45 years ago. Hints of the mystery
are buried in an old collection of works of the former members of Classics Club.
The collection is titled "Hyouka." 7/10
|7||A Sunny Day in Glasgow|
Tsuritama (shounen): You can't catch fish if you don't go fishing, and you can't
make friends if you don't at least try.
Which is how relationship-challenged student Yuki finds himself on a fishing trip to a
tiny island with three other boys he barely knows. Well, two other boys and Haru,
who claims that he's an alien. Not that constantly stewing Natsuki or mysterious
Akira are any more likely as prospects for good companionship.
But there's something about fishing that makes it unlike any other pastime, and
maybe that quiet sense of companionship and hopeful expectation is just what Yuki
needs to start charting the unfamiliar waters of personal connections. Or maybe it
will turn out that Haru's right and they're going to have to save the entire planet.
There are lots of different kinds of fish stories, from the "ones that got away" to the
"best catches ever," but whichever way the currents of life take them, for four
young men, this trip may turn out to be the biggest whopper ever! 7/10
Space is Only Noise
Nazo no Kanojo X/Mysterious Girlfriend X (romance/mystery): When the oddly
peculiar Mikoto Urabe transfers into Akira Tsubaki's class, he finds that life has
thrown him the weirdest curve ball ever. Because while Urabe may be an anti-
social loner who sleeps on her desk, carries a pair of scissors in her underwear and
breaks out in sudden fits of insane laughter, there's something about her that
Tsubaki just can't quite put his finger on. Until he accidentally puts his finger in it,
and suddenly the phrase "sharing spit with a girl" takes on an entirely new
meaning! Before he can wipe her drool off his face, Tsubaki is mysteriously
addicted to Urabe, which isn't half as strange as the fact that she not only finds this
normal, but already seems to have plans for her new drooling boyfriend. 7/10
Acchi Kocchi (romance/comedy): Wouldn't you just love to poke in a relationship
between two young high schoolers who have a subtle distance between each other?
Of course you would. Tsumiki and Io have this subtle distance that anyone would
want to jump in between just to bug them. That's what the other characters are
there for. Tsumiki, being a tsundere and all, won't be honest about her feelings
toward Io. Io on the other hand is unaware of Tsumiki's feelings, hence the subtle
distance between the two. Now, let's watch these two and see what events await
Accel World (action/sci-fi): The year is 2046. Haruyuki Arita is a young boy who
finds himself on the lowest social rungs of his school. Ashamed of his miserable life,
Haruyuki can only cope by indulging in virtual games. But that all changes when
Kuroyukihime, the most popular girl in school, introduces him to a mysterious
program called Brain Burst and a virtual reality called the Accel World. 6/10
From Here We Go Sublime
Shirokuma Cafe (comedy): Shirokuma Cafe revolves around a Canadian white
bear that quits his boring job and starts a cafeteria near a zoo. He loves telling tall
tales and always brags about himself. According to him, he was picked up by a
human couple who owns a diner while he was drifting around on an iceberg.
Though he has lost all contact with his Canadian family, he has discovered a new
home in serving the diners' clientele, thanks to the kind couple. His caf? is an
embodiment of his personality. The place is always packed with many regulars,
animals and humans, who are drawn by his charismatic magnetism. 6/10
AKB0048 (mecha/sci-fi): In the beginning of the 21st century, a world war breaks
out over interplanetary travel tech. The environment is pretty much destroyed so
mankind leaves Earth, settling on other planets, and starts Star Calendar 00.
Entertainment and songs become heavily regulated and eventually banned on
several planets due to their power to move people, but a brave idol group puts on
guerrilla performances in these systems in the name of a famous act from earlier
times that sang to Earth's bitter end, AKB48. Famous throughout the galaxy, the
group's name is AKB0048.
This story centers around a group of girls from various planets, some where
entertainment is banned and some, where it is not, striving to become great idols
and join AKB0048.
Therefore, they participate in the entrance exam and eventually become
undergraduates, aiming to someday succeed the current members of the group.
