10.30.09 | It was not easy. I had to redo it cause I was logged out. Shit happens.
I would add ''Eye Of The Storm'', ''Docks'', 'Watching The Bobbins'' and ''Sasquatch'' among others. |
Gore
10.30.09 | I've only listened to Moonmadness, and it's amazing |
bungy
10.30.09 | i need to get into these fellas...i like yes, and genesis, are they similar to them? |
Jethro42
10.30.09 | Yes. They all are symphonic prog rock. No doubt You will enjoy Camel. |
fireaboveicebelow
10.30.09 | it's hard to disagree just because there's so many good tracks |
Jethro42
10.30.09 | I was directly inspired by your ''SnowGoose'' review when I've decided to do that list . ;) |

Jethro42
10.31.09 | 'MoonMadness' way before 'Rajaz' to me |
jrowa001
10.31.09 | yeah Moonmadness and Mirage are by far their best albums. excellent list, not one bad song here. i love me some Camel! |
Wizard
10.31.09 | Did someone inspire you to do this list? ; )
I will be getting more into this band asap. |
Jethro42
10.31.09 | Nope. I know this band thoroughly. I know Camel since thirty years, that's why. =] |
Jethro42
10.31.09 | Have fun Wizard!...
Camel have a brillant, prolific carrer. You can't go wrong
whit them.
Oh, I just noticed that I forgot the song 'Super Twister'. ;(
So.. this was rather a top 30 ;) |
ubermensch518
03.22.10 | I thought I new enough about camel until I saw this list....
Why are you hating on Mirage? lol - Nimrodel is such a fantastic song, in my mind its better than at least 1,3,4,5
and I forgot how great Rhayader was |
ubermensch518
03.22.10 | not to say 1,3,4,5 aren't also great |
Jethro42
03.22.10 | It is not an easy task to do a top 5 song from this band.
I might easily change my mind one day to another, so..
I personaly prefer the more refined sound of Snowgoose and Moonmadness. Mirage is obviously up there, and deserves its place among my top three Camel's albums.
|
ubermensch518
03.23.10 | Very fair point - I think I may like the intensity of Mirage
What might be the next best few albums to get beyond Mirage, Camel, Moonmadness, and Snowgoose?
I agree with you fully about this band, btw, they really are a hidden gem |
Jethro42
03.23.10 | I'd strongly suggest you Harbour of Tears, and then A Nod and a Wink. Stationary Traveller has its great moments too.
And yes, classic prog rock is relatively ignored, or very difficult to promote on Sputnik. I actually start to add some important 70's prog bands into the database. |

good idea? |
Jethro42
12.29.11 | awww Angel. I assume you saw it as my #3 lately. So I agree it's kinda unfair to demote it that way. Let's correct it; I give it rank #5. So hard to rank the first 10 ones! |

02.02.15 | list definetly needs earthrise, such a hard jam |

10.18.15 | It's very difficult to me choose songs of which is now, probably, my favourite prog band ever. Especially because some of their albums are conceptual albums and must be listen as a whole. However, this is a very impressive list, I must confess. I only regrets that it lacks to it some tracks from their last four studio albums. As I could see, you only choose Fox Hill from the album A Nod And a Wink. Sincerely I really think that it lacks to it tracks from Dust And Dreams, Harbour Of Tears and Rajaz, which are, in my opinion, their four best album since their golden era, the era of their first four studio albums.
However, once more cheers for your choice. |
JamieTwort
10.18.15 | I know this list is ancient and your favourites may well have changed but no Chord Change? |
Jethro42
10.18.15 | That's weird, this list of mine doesn't appear in the front page today. It only appeared on ''All'' instead of into ''My Discussions''!!!
Anyway, cheers e21. And you're right, list is missing some gems from the 4 last albums. I'll try to revisit them to see which songs I could put as an honorable mention. What probably happened is that I perhaps haven't remarked outstanding songs from Rajaz nor from Dust and Dream at the time I did the list. Thanks to notice that. I would probably have to do another Camel list (a top 30 this time). However, I was quite confortable with this actual list, I mean they are probably my 25 fav songs still.
@Jamie, Chord Change would fit into my (eventual) new Camel list. Song didn't do it at the time I made that list. Song is not a top 10 to me, though. |
