Songs That Refuse To Leave My Short Term Memory

Songs as of lately that have just been bouncing around in my head for weeks and don't show any sign of slowing down
1Hall & Oats
You Make My Dreams

I don't know how this piece of 80's gold has been kicking around in my cerebrum but it refuses to leave! All I know is I'll be at work and out of no where "What I want..." and never stops. What's wrong with me (and no i'm not gay...)
2White Lies
E.S.T

I've just recently discovered White Lies, but they're quite an addicting listen with a sound reminiscent of Joy Division it's hard not to get hooked
3The Temper Trap
Fader

With a pulsing bass line, a subtle organ, and a voice that could swoon over anyone with ears, this little song "whoo hoo ooooo"s me over
4Arcade Fire
Wake Up

I blame it all on Where the Wild Things are for this song, I was listening to Arcade Fire even before those trailers, but now it's like the song has an even more emotional latch to me b/c I now relate it to the movie
5The Dead Weather
I Cut Like a Buffalo

I think we can all agree that Jack White is an odd fellow, and this song is one of those to add to that collection of "wtf-ness", but with that seducing bass line, crying organ, and the frequent chokes; i feel hypnotized once again by Jack White and his new crew
6Silversun Pickups
Substitution

Silversun Pickups have picked up a lot of speed with just 3 albums, and they show some real growth, and even though Substitution isn't the best on the album, it's so simple it works to the point I want to keep listening
7Muse
Undisclosed Desires/Exogensis: Symphony, Pt. 1-3

I was highly disappointed with Muse's latest effort, but it wasn't a total ship wreck. Undisclosed Desires was panned upon by a lot of people i talked to and read from, but I find it a very different but effective sound for them. The Exogensis Symphonies is hard to ignore as well; thus they're all mentioned
8Jeff Buckley
Hallelujah

Do I really need to give a reason??
9Julian Plenti
Fly As You Might

Solo effort from Interpol's singer Paul Banks was an even bigger let down then Muse, and the only thing I felt salvageable was this one song which has that odd sense of creepiness that is in the same vein as Interpol
10I Am Kloot
Your Favorite Sky

While sounding beautiful, I Am Kloot is always able to pull of beauty and hopelessness off in a seemingly effortless way. Your Favorite Sky is no exception with lines like
"And so what is love?
And who am I
To dare to pull the stars from your favorite sky"
11Bauhaus
Bela Lugosi's Dead

If David Bowie and Trent Reznor were to merge in to one person and make music in the the late 70s Bauhaus would be the result. None the less, their haunting and dark music is inescapable with it's freakish chanting of "undead" it sends shivers to my knees to where i want more
12Daft Punk
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Before the butcher-ization of Kenya "I'm really happy for you..." West, Daft Punk made such...fuck this I'm going and dancing to it now, you get the point
13+/-
For You

*five minutes later after Daft Punk* ok....I'm not sure how to really describe +/- but when I first heard "For You" all I felt was a sense of comfort and it literally gives me goosebumps after each listen
14The Smiths
Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want

While we're still on the topic of goosebumps, The Smiths were able to help me through a tough decision i'm going through the current moment and this song embodies almost any hard decision i've gone through. It's unavoidable the way i can relate to this song; so brief and yet totally personal
15The Strokes
Heart in a Cage

Hyped up and ready to go, The Strokes get my blood pumping with their pumpin' song Heart in a Cage, it's been my near perfect warm up before run I do each day (runner's high, gotta love it after a 5k run)
16Black Mountain
No Hits

I got nothing, it's just fun to clap with the music :-/
the little things impress me sometimes
17Beirut
Scenic World

What feels like a travelocity commercial song in terms of actual music, it's so damned catchy and corny. On top of what feels like such pain in Zach's voice, but the one line that pulls me in to this song everytime "I try to imagine a careless life"
18Queens of the Stone Age
The Fun Machine Took a Shit! and Died

One thing I will always love about QotSA, there's always a "we don't give a shit" attitude behind them. with an ever laughable song title, the rompus of a song makes for an ever growing need to want more songs/bands like this
19Bertie Blackman
Baby Teeth

Electronic is taking over music slowly, and while some acts are just generic and bland, Bertie Blackman has a fresh kind of feel to her that refreshes and seduces me, and this is the song that pulls me in everytime
20David Bowie
Lets Dance!

It's David Bowie...it's kind of like the Jeff Buckley reason...only it's David Bowie
21Modwheelmood
As I Stand Here

the once keyboardist of NIN has a very good solo career ahead of him already with the starting distortion of the guitar and some light picking he gets me tranced every time wanting to hear more of that reverb
22She & Him
Why Do You Let Me Stay Here

(side note, damn you Ben Gibbard for getting to claim Zooey!) Zooey just like her blue eyes are ever engulfing and can't help me reeled in with such a catchy tune of such quirky-ness that is missing in the music industry
23Black Light Burns
I Am Where It Takes Me

When I listen to BLB, I feel like I'm reliving the early 90s rock era, with a mixture of Enigma meets Stabbing Westward, and I just get sucked in to the landscape they create in this song
24Mogwai
The Sun Smells Too Loud

Just an enjoyable song that has a good replay value
25The Airborne Toxic Event
Something New

you're still reading...i'm actually tired of typing, hope you enjoyed just as I enjoyed finally getting in to The Airborne Toxic Event
