| Top Album Listens Of The May (so Far)
Few albums I've been listening to a little more then usual and a little more of compared to the rest of my album selection available to me. In a way it's listed on what I'm enjoying more over the others. | 6 | | Bon Iver For Emma, Forever Ago
My girlfriend suggested it, I listened to it, I enjoyed it...pretty simple...now to attempt Black Moth Super Rainbow... | 5 | | Peter Gabriel Scratch My Back
I've always loved Peter Gabriel, since birth I was listening to "So" and in the womb I listened to Genesis. I've been waiting ages for Gabriel to release new material and I sort of got what I wanted...sort of. The concept is great, with him covering artists old and new, and in turn would cover him. Though it's not what I wanted, I wanted new and fresh material; though we can't win em all. The effort isn't bad of course, there area few songs that stumble along, some that are flattened out compared to originals, and others that soar. If anything it affirms that Peter hasn't lost touch | 4 | | The Tallest Man on Earth The Wild Hunt
The way I describe The Tallest Man on Earth is like this: what if Bob Dylan got that nasally cold that Billy Corgan has had all these years. Well this answered my question and at first it was slightly annoying, but after a few songs that voice penetrates not with annoyance but with some brilliance, lyrics as open as the landscapes that cover the album | 3 | | Jonsi Go
I wasn't to found of "Jonsi & Alex" it was a little too minimalistic for my liking (and that's coming from a Brain Eno fan). I was expecting a repeat of that but when I heard the first single "Go Do" I was blown away with how much happiness and positive energy Jonsi gives off. The entire album makes me feel like a little 5 year old kid, running around in the playground with friends with so much excitement and glee. | 2 | | Vampire Weekend Contra
I'm kind of late in the game with Vampire Weekend, with the main reason of me having them confused with Arctic Monkeys. Either way, I picked up Contra and felt that I've missed out in a way. I listened to their debut album as well, but I felt Contra had a little more hook to it. The album feels so light and fun that it's hard to not walk around without having a little more pep. It's nice to hear a singer who's not crooning for a change and instead is pronouncing with fantasticism (that's right I said it) | 1 | | Deftones Diamond Eyes
Deftones are a guilty pleasure kind of band for me. Friends harp on me for listening to them always asking "still listening to Korn and Limp Bizkit too"
I kind of brush it off for the fact that Deftones shouldn't fall in a category related to those 2 bands other then they were at their peaks all at the same time. While I don't worship "White Pony" as much as the next, it is a pretty definitive album in the catalog. They came close to out-doing themselves with Diamond Eyes, which I can only sum up in a simple but contradicting statement of it being "aggressively optimistic" | |

05.12.10 | 6 is great. It took a while to get used to the vocals, but I love it now. If you liked it, definitely check out Elliott Smith-XO or Either/Or and Nick Drake-Five Leaves Left. I tried to listen to 4, but I don't really like the vocal style. I'll try again sometime soon. | eternium
05.12.10 | Thank you for saying that Deftones don't belong in the same category as Korn or Limp Bizkit. | Masochist
05.12.10 | #'s 1 and 3 are recent digs of mine, as well. I want that Jonsi song from the "How To Train Your Dragon" soundtrack! | zer0limit
05.12.10 | vanderb0b: I've listened to some Elliott Smith, Nick Drake I have no, I'll have to check him. #4 takes some repeated listens I think to get used to
eternium: sarcasm or honesty?
Masochist: I haven't heard the song yet, I'll have to hunt for it later | Masochist
05.12.10 | It's called "Sticks & Stones." Jonsi's also featured in a Tiesto song called "Kaleidoscope" (the title track of his album from last year). Need to grab that one, too ;-) | eternium
05.12.10 | I'm being honest. |
